That Zodiac is something else [emoji4] Im not a fan of gold watches but that's really nice :thumbsu:

Today's new arrival from Japan, a little xmass prezzie to my self [emoji4]  In my favourite colour and a retro design but with a hacking 4R37 movement ( handwind too ). I want the Black & gold version also but they are harder to find [emoji4]

You'll been impressed with these latest 4r's coming from Seiko. Very accurate movements.

Here's what got wrist time today. It's a lightly modified Seiko 6309-7029. I gotta do some surgery because it stops intermittently. The hands need to be cleaned.5020026ff034dcf9fc390087eeaec298.jpg

I'm a righty too...

Today is the turn of my Vertex Revue Allproof.

In need of some attention to the lume which I will have to get around to sometime, this one has a rather nice 17 jewel cal.350 inside the all stainless steel case which is conveniently stamped 1973 inside.

I've been a longtime fan of the Rado Captain Cook and regretted selling my mark 1, the mark 2 doesn't really float my boat but this came by at the right price.....with an original crystal no less... problem with these watches is that the aftermarket bezel usually messed up the function of the internal bezel...this one is ok. Original hands as well!P_20161217_133853.jpg

Today's watch is an Enicar Sherpa Date...

I've had this watch for a while but have never worn it . I took the case back off and was surprised to see that it is an EPSA Super compressor . The crown is screw down , but the case back is a bayonet type particular to Enicar .  I like the gold Saturn bubble on the dial . The strap is made by Herzog with a signed buckle and is marked " ECHT LEDER " , which I understand is translated from German to say Real Leather .

I've posted this one before, but I wear so seldom I figured it wouldn't be too déclassé to show it again. This one is a constellation 504 in stainless steel case with gold arrowhead markers on a pie-pan face. I am also including a picture of the movement. A Happy New Year to all.

Well, could this be the first watch of today in 2017? Perhaps.
It's a rare one. A Titus swissonic Beta. I have to do some more research on this, but my understanding is that the beta model operates at 720 Hz and the Alpha models operate at something like 480 IIRC. This second hand APPEARS to run smoother than my other swissonics, but that is not to be taken to the bank. Like I said, more research.
I bought it as a nonrunner, but it worked great as soon as I dropped in a battery. I believe it was listed as a black dial, but it is dark bronze. I have a lanco that is similar.
The case needed a LOT of help. It looked like someone pounded nails with it.
I'm gonna do a tutorial on refinishing this case.IMG_20170101_242054643.thumb.jpg.c65fcc2IMG_20170101_244411830.thumb.jpg.2049f49IMG_20170101_244526537.thumb.jpg.b94223e

    • Hello and welcome from Leeds, England.
    • Thank you!   Yes I did. I did not notice a difference. Although 9415 is advertised as a thixotropic grease (and I did had high hopes for it), the only advantage at this point I see is that its “easier” to apply than an oil (if one does not use epilame). But this is subjective, I guess. What I did notice though, if you apply a bit too much grease, that definitely slows down the movement. Oil in this case is a bit more forgiving, as its super thin, and it would usually just spread out.  Again, imho.
    • Mark keeps a close eye on his forum. I'm sure if you asked him he will reply, he might not do it right away but you will receive his answer.
    • I kind of think the same, the surface under the oil is the same as the surface around the oil. Can epilame both repel and attract , that doesn't quite make sense in simple terms, but is it more complicated than that. When cohesive forces within a liquid are stronger than the adhesive forces of a surface then surface tension is high causing the liquid to bead up. So  an applied epilame coating reduces the adhesive force of a surface inhibiting a fluid to wet the surface. So i guess no epilame cannot both repel and attract . If something is keeping the oil in place on top of an epilamed surface then there must be another reason for that.
    • I agree with @JohnR725. Oil on an epilamed surface is essentially the same as water on a waxed surface. The same physical properties are at work (surface tension vs. adhesion).
