  1. Cut another balance staff for an old British Pocket watch. Again used a piece of blued steel and cut 90% of the staff before breaking it off and flipping it around to finish the rolled table end and the lower pivot.Measuring the upper jewel hole with a pivot gauge. 2. Funny because I’m on my patio smoking a 5 cent cigar sorting out parts. Perfect combo.

  3. It seems to be a common property of polymers. Here's a description of the mechanism: https://polymerdatabase.com/polymer physics/Permeability.html So that plastic bag may be permeable to water vapour, and to a lesser extent to liquid water. An important function of the bag is to stop the solid desiccant mixing with your vitamins. Maybe the reason it's so resistant to tearing is because the pellets are harmful if swallowed.

  4. Your confidence grows with each success. You should advertise in watch magazines. With your skills, you could make a lot of money. There are very few that have the skill you have. Loads of watch repairers, very few watchmakers. Nice clear photos too.

  6. I love quality but IMHO cost must be reasonable for the intended (hobbyst) use. So I'm putting the $32 link anyway https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32634442471.html

  11. Nice job man, don't thing I could do that! Your movies helped me a lot with my first 2 pocket watches, lucky they still worked before I take them apart and were compleet. The Hebdomas ( still not started with that one ) like you have is missing his bezel, but if I see how you make this small parts, it must be possible for someone to make a bezel to??? Keep posting movies and pictures.

  14. That's exactly the same as my Trafalgar, (see top of page) which has a bfg 866 1 jewel movement, really nice watch. Mines the most recent service and keeps time surprisingly well for the movement type.

  15. I have purchased a 5mp eyepiece camera. Will arrive in a few weeks. Then I get video and pictures. If I bought the microscope with the camera installed, I would not get the X70 optical zoom, only X45 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  18. This is not a fitting that uses pins. The hairspring is held in place by that greenish stuff in the slot. I would clean out that greenish stuff first, I think a tiny drop of Loctite should do the trick as this is commonly used to bond metal so there shouldn't be any problem in it affecting the hairspring.

  20. You'll need a hammer and a sharp pen knife if the snap back is too tight. Position the edge of the blade in the notch of the back case, then tap the back of the blade with a hammer. You'll need a helper to do the tapping while you position the knife with one hand and holding the watch with another. Tap with moderate force and increase the force if necessary. As the hammer hit the blade, coordinate with a slight prying action will help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  21. DON"T too much heat will destroy the electronics. There are vids on youtube how to also I think Mark has done a vid on snap backs just use a knife case opener but be careful not to slip & scratch the case back.
