  2. I would re-finish the original crystal Roger. Use the well established wet or dry paper technique, finishing off with Solvol Autosol and a micro-fibre cloth. Do not touch the inside when doing this. I usually go one stage further by polishing both inside and out with a cloth made for polishing silver. Doing this you can re-use the tension ring and the watch will look perfect.

  3. Hi All, Thought id share this weeks tool purchase. My case cushion i've been using for a while now has become a bit worn and the cushion itself seems to have shrunk a little, leaving a gap between it and the base - so the odd screw or part disappears! So i thought id try one of these new Gel cushions from Bergeon, but as usual with anything Bergeon it wasn't cheap. Retails for about £26 including VAT (this is the larger one, there is a smaller for a few pounds less) but i have to say i'm really happy with it, so would recommend one.

  4. Maybe its me, bit I haven't seen poljot chronographs posted in this forum. Is there a reason for this? I have a near NOS and just got me for X-mas from Russia another one to restore... The Poljot 3133 is the 'copy' of the Valjoux 7734 movement, actually built with the machines Valjoux sold to Russia, a bit improved in some aspects, but rougher finishing. Any Poljot lovers out there?

  6. Ya. Sorry me and electronics is not a perfect match? I looked at the Y142A i had and there was a lot of plastic wheels in it? Looking a lot like the Y187 and 7T32/34 movements inside? There must be a Seiko or a Pulsar movement also? Like Y187 is 7T32? So Y145A is ??

  11. I like those Poljots too and am hoping to add one to my collection soon. I've had my eye out for a Zeppelin LZ 127, which isn't actually a Poljot but uses the 3133 movement. Interestingly, I believe the 3133 is a derivative of the Valjoux 7734 which traces it's roots back to the Venus 188.

  12. I have a couple George, the big problem is getting parts if you require them. Apart from that they're good movements.

  14. Merry Christmas everyone just waiting for the better half to finish work at three then I can open my presents and have dinner and a small one or three . Remember this important Chrismas message too. A dog isn't just for Christmas!! If you carve it thin enough it should last you until the New Year.

  15. No easy fix, for starters we don't know what is causing the problem, it might be a part has broken and is jamming stuff, it could be just a part that has got out of place. The movement needs to come out of the case, remove the hands and dial and have a good look.

  17. Now that is a sharp looking cushion for sure. Races off to the Esslinger web site...Though i do wonder how long before it shrinks as well. Hopefully not at all and it shouldn't being its made of plastic...Just got back from the Esslinger website and they have it for 35
