  1. If genuine Seikos looked like that I'd rather change hobby That's the ugliest fake piece of crap I've seen, ever.

  4. Another good way of doing this is to use a black permanent ink sharpie. Press and fill in all the number recesses. Don't worry if you go over the sides. Let the ink set for 3-4 mins. If the bezel is brushed use a Gary flex abrasive block and lightly rub the excess away leaving the ink in the number recesses. If the bezel is polished use some acetone/nail polish remover and carefully wipe away the excess. Works well every time for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. I've been looking for one of these for a very long time. I've just got my hands on a Seiko Macchina Sportiva from the 1990's, but this one is quite rare. It's the 7T32-6L20 Black ION with its original black rubber strap. I've given it a full service but need to realign the date ring, that's not a problem. But what is a problem is the case back. There's video I've made to show it off a bit. The back on these was a silicone based black finish and this had deteriorated over time. Again, not too much of a problem, I'll completely strip back the back plate to bare metal and reapply a new decal to original spec.

  6. Yep we have all been there. But there are decent non branded stuff out there. I made the statement that I would never buy anything Chinese, in a "Load bearing context" but have recently acquired a water pressure tester. It's a Chinese copy of the Bergeon 5555/98 and it's excellent ! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  7. If anyone comes along with a fake watch. You should simply turn their custom away [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  8. I use the Horotec screwback case opener and is excellent, if not particularly cheap. See picture. There are cheaper non branded options on the market. In my opinion I wouldn't waste anymore expenditure on a jaxa type opener Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  9. At least it has a nice workhorse movement. Those are one of the more decent inexpensive movements and can be used in a lot of watches as a replacement if you end up not liking the Feiko. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  10. W mate just get nice cheap watch holder like the type you see in those tool kits on the bay, black plastic and like the bottom vice on clock boys hooter opener, lock her in and use your cheap chinese jag opener, ive a cheapie jag aswell, I had to bend all the edges down to tighten it all up as the bits were all over the shop, now it's nice and tight and 200%better than it was to start with. Having the watch in a vice/watch holder will make opening so much easier, just apply lots of downward pressure aswell as turning force and it will come off, if you are worried about marking the caseback put some masking tape over it tk stop slippage of the tool and scratching ok.

  11. I'm with Roberto, the finish and detail is terrible, also the notches in the back of the case are too shallow. I think the back is snap on not screw on.

  12. The Seiko badge looks like it's melted or a really bad copy. The 5 badge looks like a sticker. The caseback doesn't look like any I've seen. The model 7123-8610 doesn't bring anything up in Google images or on Seiko photo database. Sent from my NEM-L51 using Tapatalk

  13. It looks like a genuine Seiko to me just very dirty. This is the tool I was referring too.

  14. Those grooves aren't going to be of much help. Have you tried a rubber ball? J

  16. I have seen quite a few like that where the tool slots in the back were fake to make it look better made than it is. See if it just pops off. This one does not look genuine either. The case wouldn’t corrode like that if it were SS and the fonts and hands don’t look right. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  17. I can not attach a pic at present but although not cheap the horotec is versatile (or you can fit dies for Rolex etc) it is very robust and will shift the tightest of case backs.

  18. I think I'm done for now. If I remember correctly it was 3 or 4 layers.

  19. I've seen a nice one on eBay at the moment. An Elma super elite. (Not sure if it's against rules to post a link on here?)

  20. That back looks really dirty/gummed up I would give it a good soak with a penetrating oil after removing as much as possible of the dirt around the case. I have the luxury of a horotec case opener which would open it with no problem. However you might have to secure the watch in a vice with a cloth to stop scratches & lightly tap it around with an old screwdriver.

  22. FE 6220 is a 2 Hand version. FE 6230 is the 3 Hands version. Obsolete and quite old technology so best to replace with Miyota 2035.

  26. I took a photograph of a few Macchina Sportiva case backs and took measurements of the text, the logo panel and diameter of the text relative to the panel and case back. I then edited and recreated the Logo panel in Gimp. I recreated the circular text using the same font as a layer. Then I created a black background layer the same overall size of the case back. The artwork was the laser printed onto a transfer film ready for transferring to the case back. Obviously, printers do not print white text. Therefore, I used an acid etch primer on the case back before painting it with an off white background for the text. The transfer was then applied and baked on. A few coats of matte lacquer was then applied to seal and finish it off. This is not one for the faint hearted, it needs a lot of patience.

  27. How did you do that? It looks great!

  28. I've finally got round to redoing the case back for this watch. Now it's looking pretty good. The original was probably a screen print over the finish. I used the photos of the original to redo artwork before applying it to the back. I apologise for the blurry photo.

  29. That is often the issue with doing this. Getting the paint even everywhere. I wonder how they paint the bezels in the factory... Do they just use some sort of a spray pulverizer and then wipe off the extra paint after it has slightly dried out inside the groves ?
