Hello, My name is Alexis and I am new to the hobby of watch repair. I started it just 2 months ago by chance -I was forced to stay in my house, unwillingly...- and I found its multi-faceted aspect and the attention it requires very appealing, a kind of meditational state for a tinkerer... For the time being I just play around with 2-3 old watches trying to learn the very basics and to collect the necessary equipment. This forum appeared repeatedly in my related searches, giving me all the time valuable information. I am very happy to be part of this community. Thank you!

I made a brass object sort of approximating the shape of a balance staff on my lathe (obvs learning), cleaned and reassembled a Timex M24 from a late 60's watch the seller said "needs new battery" and installed a NOS Elgin mainspring that showed up in the mail into an 1890s 6 size that had been waiting on the bench. To find it runs ++++ on the timegrapher, at a wicked 100° amplitude.

Ah ok ok his beef is against static poising with bench tools, not with dynamic poising to correct the running watch.

Have always loved fixing things, cars mostly but also as a joiner...- take stuff apart, put it back together better - . And then my grandfather's watch that nobody wanted to fix in my town. And I love puzzles . My kids say if dad cant fix it nobody can, this ere proves it !
