Hello Mark,
Are you sure, you have everything in the right place.[emoji3] A new workshop takes a lot of planning
Not sure of anything at the moment - bloody exhausted :D

Looking good so far, I am currently re-jigging my workshop so I can do Watch repairs and also get started with level two of your Watch repair course.

A word of encouragement:  I retired and moved into a new home in August of 2005.  I lost my favorite microphone.

Finally purchased a replacement after 3 weeks of searching.

I found the old one last week.

What season is this in Taiwan?

Thailand, coming up towards the rainy season. Bloody hot ATM though.

A break from filming is acceptable, the print your own dial was the one I was eagerly awaiting so no pressure on the next strip and clean. Next week will do. :D

You're serious?   Must be a bit of culture shock.  Is there a decent tin of Spam available?

Except for the airport, I have never been to Taiwan, But If the weather is anything like the Philippines, it is either the hot season, or the hotter season.

Thailand.

I thought Mark mentioned Taiwan in one of his videos and perhaps mistook it as a joke.

I've not traveled much.  Been in the Rome airport a few times and spent a few weeks in Greece, but never lived anyplace more exotic than Kansas City.  Living in the Ozark hills was culture shock.  You know how far I have to drive to buy anything like decent scotch?  It's a day trip!

I would love to see the U.K.  Give up my artillery and move there?  I don't think so.

I suspect Mark is having at us.  I suspect he has made so much money off of us he has moved to a large country estate!

Not long been back from Thailand. Love the place. Been 3 times now. Did Island hopping, lot of sea fishing - fresh fish with Thai food every day. The fish we caught we gave excess to t he locals and t he hotel chef cooked meals for 4 for 300Bhat.

Cool! Have a great holiday Mark.

Been here 2 years now and love it. Back to the UK for a 2 week holiday in July - my two lads are graduating Uni.

Great opportunity to get down to London and buy some new kit :)

I am after a decent set of second hand main spring winders at a reasonable price. If anyone hears of a set sounding like a bird please let me know. Cheers

I haven't heard any, but if you use Ebay -> Advanced search -> https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=watch+mainspring+winder&LH_PrefLoc=2&_ftrt=901&_sop=15&_dmd=1&_osacat=0&_ipg=200&_ftrv=1&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=watch+mainspring+winder+-covers&_sacat=0

Then figure out how loud you want the bird to cheep, and put in your price range, I'm sure you will get something.

However I feel we are hijacking this thread somewhat.

Hi Mark L
Have I read you right, you now live in Thailand? I thought you were native of Uncle Sam.
Yes. Been here for a couple years now. Love it.

    • Would be worth starting here Del, if they don’t have it they might know someone  https://www.barometerworld.co.uk   Tom
    • What size hands do you need as most wholesalers have a selection. Agian most wholesalers have a selection of crystals depending on the shape. No would be the answer to UV glue as it doesn't work in a sandwich and only the overspill exposed to UV sets.
    • To start searching for hands, measure the diameter of the hour wheel where the hour hand attaches, and the tip of the cannon pinion where the minute hand attaches. Use calipers that are accurate to 0.01mm, and then you can look around ebay for hands about the right size. It is typical to have to either close down (concave punch) or broach open the pipe when fitting hands since you won't usually find a set that is the exact diameter of your hour wheel & cannon pinion. It is reasonable to work with something about +/- 0.03mm  Measure the thickness of the 4th wheel extended pivot for a seconds hand. Cousins does sell some new hands for pocket watches, but I don't find them suitable for old watches. They just don't look right so instead I managed to win an auction on an enormous assortment of old hands. It's sort of fun to pick through them and measure to find a workable pair. I use this tool to measure hands:
    • First thought was Ali but not quite the right size. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001332181418.html?src=google&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!15.89!15.89!!!!!%40!10000015722336818!ppc!!!&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&isdl=y&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&aff_platform=google&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&gclsrc=aw.ds&&albagn=888888&&ds_e_adid=&ds_e_matchtype=&ds_e_device=c&ds_e_network=x&ds_e_product_group_id=&ds_e_product_id=en4001332181418&ds_e_product_merchant_id=109329972&ds_e_product_country=GB&ds_e_product_language=en&ds_e_product_channel=online&ds_e_product_store_id=&ds_url_v=2&albcp=17859500389&albag=&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17190468917&gbraid=0AAAAADznYb9wcm3yr5TVnjKS13BUaCYRa&gclid=Cj0KCQjwoZbBBhDCARIsAOqMEZX56VaN03sqlHk3bDswNOyXmi-lHQRBwgyt3mVympigQhcfH6Iqb94aAnEsEALw_wcB
    • I'm looking for hands (3) & a crystal (4cm dia.) for my watch Serial No. 85590 as shown in the photo. I'd be grateful for suggestions re potential sources; and to know if uv glue would be suitable for re-fixing the 12mm dia. seconds dial.
