  1. Sounds like you bought an generic chinese dial, it has four feets so you can fit it to several movements, for example if you want to use it with an ETA you leave the one between 2 & 3 and the one between 8 & 9 and cut of the rest. Then you can use it with for example an ETA 2824-2 or a clone of that movement. After the weekends sometime I will make an PDF tutorial in how to assemble your own watch and what to think about before doing it, maybe it might help you

  2. So the time has come to do a small tutorial on how one could assemble an own noname Watch out of parts harvested from the deepest coners of the web. I took a look in my drawers and after a stiff G&T I decided there might be parts enought to make a try. This should not be looked as the final solution but rather as a complement to Everything else created out there. The tutorial is a 50+ page Collection of Pictures and Words in a PDF format which makes it possible to read it offline too. The Pictures are mine original works so you could even use it as a slideshow at your next Company party! The result from mine attemt looks Little like this.. How to assemble your own watch.pdf

  3. My dad once said real men love pink. i responded with 'said no one ever.' I'll never forget one night where I actually wore pink when my godson accompanied me to the ballet. His mom suggested we match our suits and he begged that we wear pink. So I got a pink shirt and tie. His mom got him a matching set. My routine before any show is to go to the neighboring hotel and get a glass of scotch at the pool bar. While we were in that spot, the bartender comp'd my drink, his rootbeer, and my parking pass. Nice. Went to the ballet, we drew alot of attention from some nice looking ladies. After the show, we went to dinner. I got him whatever he wanted, got my entree, few glasses of wine, dessert for both of us. Bill was roughly $90. We waited and waited for our check. Finally flagged a waitress and was told a group of ladies at a nearby table paid our bill. TOld the waitress how touched they were that we went out wearing pink for breast cancer awareness month. Internally I was laughing, externally I was like, 'oh yes, that's right, breast cancer for real.' I told the squirt that im taking him out more often wearing pink. Never did it again. He's 16 now and, well, he's no longer interested in pink as one would expect. Sent from my SM-T720 using Tapatalk

  4. If You want to cross over into the "dark side" and go quartz you could probably use a ronda 515 movement since it shares the dial feet position of the ETA 28XX . I have a fossil blue am 3615 with that movement that has a dial that is about that size.it has a very robust all stainless case and bracelet. of course you have to like the styling of these watches, and the bracelets are not interchangeable among styles. but you could assemble an interesting unique watch for very little coin.

  6. Grab the arbor in a pin vice (or barrel arbor holder, which is a specialized pin vice for just this task), then twist it in, in the opposite direction of winding.

  7. I have repaired quite a few of these type bands. The U shaped pins / plates indicated by the blue arrows appear to be the ones that are more easily removed. You should see directional removing arrows stamped on the inside of the band. The plates pointed to with red arrows are removable but will take more care in getting those out. Unfortunately, this is the part that has been broken in your case. You may experiment with removing one of the plates indicated with the blue arrows just to see how they are removed. George

  9. Slightly fast is not 30 minutes or 1 hour. I stand by my opinion that it's bad practise and I will advise anyone that generally speaking it is bad practise. Like telling someone you can shut a PC down by unplugging the socket, sure you can and it 'might' be OK but it 'might cause damage. Why drive the train, escape wheel and pallet fork backwards and cause a backlash in your balance wheel and risk your impulse jewel and pivots. Train and escape wheel pivots were damaged respectively in the previous mentioned post, admittedly they were less sturdy and less solidly constructed cheap Chinese movements but....

  10. Thank you all for your input! It seems that the hands needed to be reseated as anilv suggested. I simply removed the badge for the time being and I'm not sure if I'll put it back on our not. It was a pretty stressful task having the watch taken apart even to the small extent that I did! The watch is now running really fast, gaining 5 minutes a day. Does it just need to be regulated? Or is that an indication that something else could be wrong?

  11. Doc; you need high quality for this job. no chineezium. best to replace it or "farm out" the repair. vin

  12. Refer to ranfft to see parameters, F, T and H , for each movement, which should fit those of the case correspondingly. Considering the dial thickness of course.

  13. Absolutely, but as per my comment, when I've taken all the relevant measurements and asked if they can confirm that the new part is the same dimensionally and I'm willing to take the chance if I'm happy enough it'll fit because that'll be my choice it shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of the staff to have a rough measure. Ultimately it could have cost them a sale because I wasn't going to risk it with zero info whereas with 'some' even a guesstimation I would. As it happens I did after the reply from Bergeon. I've no quibbles about their service otherwise, it's excellent.

  14. I have grown two beards in my life. When I got out of the military I grew one because I could. I looked like an Arab. When I retired from the NYPD, I grew one because I could I looked like Santa Claus.

  15. If you’re handy you might be able to replicate this handy tool. Rolex make a “casing up” movement holder. It has a pin to engage the stem release and a bump to grab a notch in the movement so it locks in. You never need to flip the movement or case upside down. Horia make them too: https://www.horia.ch/en/Products/Stem-pusher/Tool-for-removing-stem-for-cal-ETA-2824-2.html
