  1. Today I am in a hurry but here comes a quick shot of my watch of the day..Another Mondia. It has a AS/ST 1950/51 under the hood. Enjoy..

  2. If they're a little tarnished, I wash them in hot water with ultrsonication liquid and spill them out onto a paper towel to dry, and sometimes also dip them in naptha to get them extra clean. If they look ok, I just rub them with Rodico while holding them down with a brass tweezer. J

  3. RE: " courage to ask for help... with knock-off" Thanks! The way I see it, even the world's best brain surgeon started with a dead pig! :) I'm sure not going to crack open Daddy's Rolex before I practice on some "knock-offs" and cheap mechanical movements. :)

  4. The same can be said of most large western cities.I used to live in suburban NY.It was a nice place until they decided to be a sanctuary state for illegal aliens, and the next town over became an MS 13 gang strong hold. I Now live in rural North Carolina, I don't have to sleep with my mauser next to the bed, and there are no tall buildings that people might want to crash a plane into.

  5. If they are different diameters then it will be clear which goes where. If there is a difference of thickness the thick one always goes on top- in the balance cock. Remember the sound a clock makes- tick tock: thick top. You won't forget!

  6. You need to take measurements and search the web.

  7. Yes that is correct. Looking at this photo you can see which strike side would operate the hammers. They would also need the springs to be the right force to run together, to compensate this the two hammers are lighter than the single one.

  8. DO IT! From an economic stand point You can do this for the price of a quartz p.o.s. from walmart. Worst case you screw up a watch that is not working anyway. But I am betting you will not.

  9. Cortibert Spirofix. Sometimes you just don't have any intentions to buy any new watches, but then all of a sudden your curiosity hits like a 5 pound meat club. The inner voice says "Spirofix wounder what kind of movement a watch called like that uses" and boom the poltergeist in your laptop has ordered it and it is on it's way. When it arrives I silence my inner voices with the argument that I have to practice to make perfect.... Inside it one can find a Corbert Cal.677 cough fin at 18000A/h. I haven't cleaned the dial and exterior yet (bought it two years ago) but it is in the plans, like with cars my philosophy is "Check the engine first !" if it don't run it's done.

  10. I see 78 stamped into the case back so that dates the quartz watch to June 1991. Your "Electric" has a model 84 where the "Electronic" has a model 87. Both are same size linge so can be changed out. The one you show is familiar to me but for some reason I think was not sold via the US catalog so will check my book latter tonight. The difference between the Electric and Electronic was the introduction of a small regulator board for the current flow to the coil.
