So reaming would be better than trying to drill?

That might have been me. We did it with wrist movements (12 ligne or so). We did line up the parts in the faceplate, but- and it's a big one- we then drilled out the holes. The idea being the drill will follow the center of the revolving part. And that's just not how it works. If I have to open a hole more than one reamer size (and usually even then) I do it in the faceplate, but using the slide rest and a boring tool to open the hole. One project I used to work on required about 20 holes opened this way, down to 0.69mm, so I got pretty quick at it (did like 55 of those pieces). Being able to quickly center up a part on the faceplate and go to it with a proper tool is important enough in what I work on that I have dedicated machines for just that, and they get used frequently. So yes, you could jewel a non-jeweled movement, but it would have to be done with extreme care if you don't want to make things worse. -
So how does your balance in the Marvel compare with the one in the Laurel.
