  1. It there is a tension ring there won't be a gasket. Water resistance will be based on surfaces (tight) contact and owner's responsibility.

  2. Yes they very often are different hence never mix them up. I have a KEF ref book and it shows clearly different heights for the lower & upper chatons.

  4. Dose the perioď of amplitude fluctuations correspond to a particulare wheel? for instance a bad tooth on escape wheel can cause such amplitudes drop & pick up, every round the tooth comes in contact with pallets.third wheel?

  5. The WatchCraft mic you posted above is pretty crappy. We had one at school, bleh. The Bergeon is really great, you won't be disappointed, and if you are patient they do come up for under 250, I think I've seen them around 150 here and there.

  6. There's an alignment mark on the right wheel, I think it should be positioned like in the pic for the date set at 31.

  8. Many are different, that is why when you take them apart it is vital you keep the parts separate. If not you are going to create problems for yourself.

  9. I guess different in distance between the jewel's and chaton hole, The jewels in them could be different too, as for their hole diameter, thickness etc. The movement can run even though one may not belong.

  11. Ok, the little bump is to catch the bridle on the mainspring. It probably has a "hooky" side and a less or non "hooky" side. It's been a while since I used one of these but seems there's really only one way it can go.

  12. So, inspired by Marks excellent videos I decided to try filming a service, by crikey, it's extremely tricky, working around a camera and trying to keep things in shot. This is part 1 of a Seiko 7019A strip, a Seiko 5 (Franken) I bought at a flea market in Hamburg and should have had a 7S26 movement. I could have swapped the movement for one of the 7S26's I have but where's the fun in that, besides which, it wouldn't have been the same watch I bought as a holiday keepsake. Apologies for the first 4 minutes of footage which youtube seems to have butchered making it look 480p, it does go back to acceptable after that, I had tried to use my mobile phone which films in 4K so I could have a bit of working distance and then crop in to still have 1080p. If it doesn't rectify itself I shall have to remove and reupload the video as the original rendered video plays ok.

  13. I think your identification is correct ... in which case this FHF Robert is the same as the Gruen 100 / 101. This takes a balance staff with the Ronda number 1144. If you go to the Cousins page https://www.cousinsuk.com/category/filter/ronda-staffs-by-ronda-number you can search for balance staffs by Ronda number and I see they'll do you a pack of 12 for £8.95. Worth searching other suppliers too. Alternatively if we're pretty confident with the ID and now knowing that your FHF = Gruen 100 /101 (which also according to ranfft are the same as the Gruen 620, 623, 626, 627 as differences not known between these six models) it could be worth a search on a site like ebay for any complete movement going that has a good balance.
