  1. I want to thank everyone for the advice. Yes it was a snap on back. It was hard to see the notch even with a 10x loupe. There was a cover under the first cover. The cover was a tight fit and hard to get off and back on. kind regards.

  2. Oberli and Loeb is still in existence the company changed name to Oberli CNC in 1998 they are a small engineering company that amongst other things manufacture tools for the watch industry, the tools they produce are specialist tools manufactured to the clients manufacturing needs. The tool you have will have been made to do one job over and over again in a manufacturing environment. You could try contacting them and see if they remember who they produced it for and what its use is https://www.oberlicnc.ch/html/fabrikation.html#ringe_muttern Personally I think this tool is for pinning a hairspring to a collet

  3. Hi Guys. Just a little updated photo of my new work station. Camera setup is great for helping me see what I am doing on the screen, due to the usual mid life eye deterioration. Chair I went for is an office type with adjustable height and tilt, seems comfy so far. Have a great weekend. Rick

  4. Can be done, Producing the design; ( desired) frequency is the aim. I plan to write and post an article on the forum, a breif explanation of the dynamics of balance wheel, metalurgics of H/S, industrial proccess of H/S production... which I believe shows the way to a repairman's better understanding of what he is doing. Just needs some time, I am old and lazy. Regards.

  5. The only thing so far is this. Lengnau is a municipality in the district of Zurzach in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland Is that punch hollow? I think it is a balance staff remover or roller remover tool. I have no idea what those two knobs are for on the side. If it removes what I’ve said. There’s nothing to stop the parts just dropping through. How did you get it?

  6. It should have zero effect on amplitude. What did you lubricate with?

  7. Dentist stool is a good idea. As im a drummer, you may want to look into a drum throne as well. Some have back rests as well but the basic ones have lots of adjustments for height (usually threaded rod) and are quite cheap these days.

  8. it is a 17 jewel movement so not made by Timex, rather for them. late 70's into the 80's they came in two shapes, round and barrel. used in mainly in ladies models but also in some men's.

  9. The best way to try and identify a movement is from the features on the dial side. However I've done a quick bit of research for you and noted that Timex often used Durowe (Deutsche Uhrenrohwerke) movements in their watches. Could this be something like a Durowe 71 (or derivative)?
