  1. I bought myself a car dent removal tool and tried it today on a few pocket watches i had with good dents. Worked great. Just tap frequently and use the right size end depending on the diameter of the dent. They work the tool in small circles around the dent or back an forth for long line dents. Here are my results. 2. Just in from the 'Bay on a second chance offer! I had missed by a dollar before and fate has brought this little gem my way. This is an economy Standard Time Corp. movement and is cousins with the Hamilton 500 or 505(?). I think maybe it shares a balance assy. Loving the clear caseback as well and the offset crown is very comfy. Keeping good time so far but perhaps in need of a cleaning as the balance adjustment is pegged. Also sorting a huge part and tool lot I got in trade for some service work, will post some photos soon. C Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

  4. Usually when somebody works on a Rolex as a professional they usually have a one to two-year warranty. Except if the customer decides to play with the Rolex the warranty usually expires instantaneously. Makes it hard to diagnose a problem if somebody else's been playing with the watch.

  6. The more important measurements in determining mainspring size are the height and strength of the spring the loss in length of 26 mm would make hardly any difference in the running of the watch other than it would run for a shorter period of time so if the power reserve was 30 hours the difference in length may mean it runs for 28.

  8. A really useful source of information is Christian aka watchguy.co.uk Check out https://watchguy.co.uk/cgi-bin/library?action=show_brand&brand=Roamer and you'll see he's worked on three 522's and taken photos along the way. I've worked on a Limelight and Searock with 522's in the recent past so may be able to help in the unlikely event you hit an issue.

  10. Hi, Welcome and good wishes. Yes, if you are able to make a decent job of a watch repair people get to know and you do end up with too much work. Especially if one is retired. Regards, Mike. PS. Pro`s charge a lot of money for their hard earned skills and a lot of people cannot afford to spend £260 + on a watch overhaul. Most of us like a mechanical watch however quartz is the way most people are going. My Grandson recently purchased a Mont Bland smart watch. I just need to know the time so I can take the insulin etc. Keep repairing, Mike.

  11. Absolutely your choice but I cannot stress enough (for other people who may read this thread) how bad of an idea this is. A cannon pinion un-lubricated will cause the watch to stop or worse damage the escapement if the hands are set. For every problem there is a solution and that is the job of the watch repairer to solve. If the pinion cannot be extracted easily then it must be removed carefully by force. This may be a job for someone who has experience with this but it does need to be done for sure. Do not leave it like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Update: Well I'm back off holiday and have now had a chance to take a look at the lamp. I tested the strip of LEDs that apparently failed and they all work individually. But agitating the first led in the failed strip caused them all to come on. So i re-soldered that LED to the plate and all is well again. Sorted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
