  2. Hey guys, my name is Massimo, italian but living in Japan at the moment! And right here I started collecting watches, mainly from the '70. Of course most of them need care and I found this great forum from which I already learned a lot, but I definitely want to learn more... At the moment I own already around 50 pieces but most of them needs some works, so I hope you can help me out! Talk soon and thanks to everybody in advance!

  4. Rolex charge £600+ and take 4 months to return the watch. As an independent I charge £350 and return within 2-3 weeks maximum. I was told from a very highly qualified watchmaker when I was starting out 1) Don’t be too cheap or the customer will think your work will be sub standard. 2)Don’t be too quick or the customer will think your work will be sub standard Wise words that have served me well. I always give a 12 month guarantee but never give a guarantee on water resistance. I do, however, tell the customer whether the pressure test passed or failed. To date, it’s never been an issue. 5. I JUST FOUND IT! Like 6 feet away from me somewhere where it must have been carried by a shoe or something as it couldn't have jumped that far and at that angle. There is someone up there!

  6. it is as Marc said. The tension of the spring should be just enough to lightly lift the pinion and hold it against the jewel hole. Too much 'bend' and it will cause some drag. Not enough and the seconds needle will stutter. Anilv

  8. Hello everyone here. I was searching web to find solution for mechanical and tuning fork watch timing and ended up here. My old B-200 starts to be old and tired, so I am looking for something to replace it. And I do not have tuning fork card to it I see that here have been made extraordinary work. I raise my hat by both hands to people prototyping this project in electronics, software and mechanics aspects. I understand electronics and softwares only so much, that I know not to start my own design. I have a maybe stupid question (sometimes answer might be as stupid as the asker seems to be...) because my knowledge about computers is limited to "when it does not work, carry it to the recycling area and do it in a good old way without". Is there any not normal or laptop type device in market which can be used for this project? My workshop does not have table top room for computers and something smaller may be hided inside some old style case to give illusion not to be so modern. Yes, I may be old style jerk but pretty proud of not having a smartphone. -ep-

  10. I started on the kitchen table, went to the computer desk, next to mud room on a folding table and now half of the storage room. A combination of office storage, leftovers and what ever else I come across. This is typically how it looks, organized chaos when I get into mode for eBay sales. About once a month I tidy it all up and say yes this is how it is going to stay. But, than I get in a fresh lot and it starts all over again. The solar hula dancer is how I checking the timing....j/k
