So, here it is the one that is now my (almost) everyday watch choice:

post-1304-0-82225400-1458165205_thumb.jp

I like it very much and I think it's one of the best quality/price pieces for an automatic watch with a titanium case and a saphire crystal.

The price is a little under 500 €.

I 'm very pleased with it's performance, as I managed to adust it to get a < 1 s/day variance, ( despite the fact that when I received it, it was gaining a deceiving 15s/day!)

Other interesting feature is an unusual complete fluorescent dial:

Nice watch and good brand also. I didn't know they were using Citizen movements. BTW, I hid your duplicated post as per your request so all's well! :)

Cheers,

Nice face design, not overloaded.

And here is the matching airplane in its new existence: http://www.rimowa-f13.com

A LEGEND GROWS NEW WINGS

Looking forward to see this machine flying and I hope to get the chance to hop into the cockpit myself one time.

Regards

Dirk

I loved tke link to the site  of the RIMOVA project bringing back Junkers F13 to live! BEAUTIFUL!!

I am also a passionate for aviation and that was one of the reasons I also liked the watch.

I hope you really get the chance to enter its cockpit! Can you fly it?

Thanks,

Regards

I fly the EC225 helicopter, but I would love to fly those old aircraft. If I get the chance I will take a flight training hour with an instructor as I did last year with the Zeppelin NT,

That is still a dream for me to be a Zeppelin captain. :-) and yes, Junghans delivered the clocks for the original Zeppelins which closes the loop to my Junghans connection.

Normally I stick to mechanical pocket watches or quartz wrist watches but I really do like that watch. Excellent white hands with black trim so you can still see the time when the sun is shining. A really beautiful watch.

Very nice watch. I am in the aerospace business and I can appreciate that pilots need big watches and large leather briefcases for maps and sextant

i don't think there is a watch that junkers makes that i don't like. this one included. it's very sharp and well done. i also did not know that they used citizen movements. they could do a lot worse, for sure. that is a very cool flourescent dial. i usually associate them with lower price point watches, but it's a pleasant surprise on this watch. i'd own it.

i've been looking at the junkers JU52 cockpit watch. it's got a really cool yellow minute hand and a red and white striped hour hand. i'm gonna end up with one sooner or later. it comes in auto or quartz. auto for me.

    • @oldhippy, hasn't been on since the 14th of April, I messaged him nine days ago, no reply.  I  hope he's on an around the world trip with endless booze and supermodels.   joking apart, I  hope he's alright. Does anyone know anything?
    • Some of the older American companies did at least claim to manufacture them so reliably that any one of their tailstocks should perfectly center any one of their headstocks. But it would take probably someone like nickelsilver to verify that in a big enough collection.
    • You also have another potential issue with head and tail stocks, in my research it would seem that for the American style lathes the head and tail stocks were bored as a pair. So a matched pair is good a “pair “ made up from two different lathes cause some headaches. The Swiss Geneva style lathes are much lighter but were apparently made to fit any lathe. I have seen mention of being able to shim the tailstock as well to true up. indexing is again not so straightforward for a watchmaker lathe, at least not as I have found so far. Often a lathe will come with basic indexing which is limited to 60 positions. The full index plates do come up at times for eywatering prices. It is very possible to do that electronically. As well as what @SwissSeiko maybe able to point you to have a look here. https://imakewatches.com/projects/CNCIndexDriver.html   https://imakewatches.com/projects/MillingAttachment.html   Tom
    • On a watch repair discussion group that you know that we love to see naked watches out of the case you show us a box? I think a book on watchmakers lathes should be helpful.   The watchmakers' lathe, its use and abuse; a story of the lathe in its various forms, past and present, its construction and proper uses by     Goodrich, Ward L https://archive.org/details/watchmakerslathe00good
    • Got it. So a WW lathe will have that graduated drive pulley for different speeds and similar setup for the bed and tailstock, but they won't be fully compatible with one another in terms of parts. Thanks! The picture helps a lot.
