I wish to share my experience with thyme tea with everyone.

Six months ago when I had my second bout of Covid, my chest was so congested that breathing deeply hurt. Coughing was pure agony. And with a 40°C fever that comes back every 6 hours when the level of paracetamol in the blood falls, I was willing to try anything.

Then I saw this video on YouTube and I decided to give it try. I drank a cup of the stuff and went back to bed. When I woke up about an hour later, I coughed up a golf ball sized lump of greenish-yellow phlegm. And almost immediately, all symptoms suddenly abated. 24hrs later, I was feeling perfectly fine. I repeated an ART test and it was negative.

I started recommending it to some of my friends and many of them found it useful, although some claimed it had no effect.

I had another round of Covid last week. I tested positive on Thursday and although the symptoms were very mild, I drank a cup of thyme tea just to play safe. And by Friday evening all symptoms were gone. I repeated an ART test and it was negative.

If any of you read this, try it out the next time you get Covid or the flu. Let me know your experience with thyme tea.

@watchweasol, you might like to take note of this.

I have watched quite a few videos from this guy he seems to know what he's talking about. But thats really interesting Hector, i much prefer alternative medicines, especially holistic that treat root causes of the problem that relate directly to an  individual rather than just treating general symptoms . Thanks Hector i will definitely try this as i suffer with chest problems quite often. Did you make this yourself using fresh thyme or was it a retail brand ?  A good book to read on this is "grow your own drugs by James wong "

Cool, i was just about to eat breakfast but I'm thinking i will leave it a couple of hours now 😅.  Sounds like the tea has loosened things up in your chest, this might be just specific to you. Lemon cuts through mucus for a lot people. Diary products can also cause mucus, milk does this to me very quickly in the morning. Something i have tried thats very simple is sucking on vitamin C tablets as soon as i feel a sore throat coming on, the big 1 gram vit. C type. When i have done this say 2 - 3 times in a day, nothing comes of the sore throat, which disappears .Most bugs dont like the acid environment in your mouth.

No. I used the dried thyme I had in my cupboard. I think it was Masterfoods.

Never heard of it. I don't intend to try it. The best thing I have used and my late mother used it on me when I was a child was vicks vapor put some in a bowl with hot water put a towel over you head and bowl and breath in the vapor.

Thats a good old style remedy that has decongestants like eucalyptus and anti bacterial camphor, the heat also helps to loosen up the crap. Olbas oil is also good for clearing out the nasal pasages throat and chest.

Surely still better than what might be a processed shop bought brand .

My 2p worth.  Thyme tea may be wonderful stuff.

I'm a scientist at heart. I believe in the "Scientific method". I worry that people fall for the "Naturalistic fallacy" - just because something is "natural" they think it is better than something "processed".  Nature is not cuddly and friendly. It is out to kill and consume you.

I don't understand people who prefer a "raw" product, just because it is "natural". It may contain any amount of active/dangerous chemicals, possible poisons, carcinogens (as seen is some Chinese medicines) etc. I prefer 'real' medicine, where the active ingredients are identified and synthesized. It is rigorously tested to prove that it works (not just a placebo as a lot of 'alternative' medicine is), and is shown to be safe.

I'll stick to the processed drugs thanks.

I keep it simple,I'd sooner trust nature than the money making pharmaceutical industry lol.

Ricin is natural, I  wouldn't suggest using it.

One of the most toxic nerve agents developed is VX. The median lethal dose for an adult is 6-10 milligrams. That's milligrams!!

But good old mother nature, where everything is wonderful and safe, can top that by some margin.

Botulinum toxin has a median lethal dose of 1-2 nanograms. That's about 5000x more toxic than VX.

You mean the "money making  pharmaceutical industry" who save millions of lives every year ?

In the 20th Century it is estimated about 300-500 million people died of smallpox. Due to scientific research, a vaccine was found, which led to the total eradication in 1977.  If we 'trusted nature', millions would still be dying every year.

This thread is going to split options, I'm on the pharmaceutical side.  Some drugs are artificial, some are extracted from nature and improved and/ or refined.

I can't see any issue with the thyme tea if it makes you feel better.

I agree entirely Richard. Most drugs are initially extracted from plants. An infusion made from brewed malted barley and hops makes me feel great. And  a brewed barley distillate even better 🤣

Very diplomatic Richard, I'm on the side of dropping a very controversial subject 🙂

Botulinum toxin

Thinking of natural substance isn't anthrax natural? Okay true it's been enhanced by people for chemical warfare but at its base is a natural product?

One of the problems with natural is that perception is it's harmless. In other words if it wasn't harmless you have to go to a doctor get a prescription it come with cautions warnings and typically natural does not. So the perception would be natural can be harmless where unfortunately that is wishful thinking. Often times dosage strength of natural can vary.

We really should break this discussion up in the three categories? Categories like stuff from pharmaceutical companies. Natural products that people take as a substitute or replacement for a pharmaceutical product. Then the natural feel-good products that are probably for the most part harmless.

I propose something that all right minded people can agree on Rich:  that barley, hops and yeast, are natural, safe, and indeed essential to life and well being.  Cheers mate 🤪

    • Great this - messed around fitting the other movement yesterday as I couldn't test it correctly since it had a loose hand. Go for it I figured! Runs for two hours less than the one it replaced!
    • Looks like it could be a lack of end-shake. How much end-shake is there ?  Also, the coils are slightly bunched under the stud side, but that's not the cause of the problem.
    • Yes epoxy and heat is rather interesting. Sometimes what I machining parts I will epoxy because it has really nice holding power and then I will put the thing in a pot of boiling water wagon just tap off the object nice and clean. Also if you want to take out watch crystals and up epoxy Danube oil level in water and I'll just pop out. But it does seem odd that manufacturers would use Epoque see and have a heating system so they may be using a higher temperature E epoxy or something else I had a small ultrasonic machine that I used for cleaning watch parts that actually came with a glass beaker and recommended putting it in the tank With water between the tank in the beaker. This would of course cause in discussion groups of people telling me how stupid I am because you must never do this even though it's the way it came. Then the cheap little ultrasonic ran about 20 years of occasionally cleaning watches and worked perfect until it finally died. But I've also seen larger ultrasonic machines were people put metal clock plates or other large metal objects and shattered their transducers. So yes it usually is recommended not to have things directly on top of the transducer. One theory I heard was if it's solid enough feel reflect back into the transducer which really bad I do not know if that's true or not I do know they look really bad when the shattered. I was trying to find another picture of the bigger machine that I was using when the little one disintegrated. But I did find a picture the little one purchased from the drugstore when they're on sale or there were just really cheap. In other words newfangled ultrasonic cleaning machine with beaker worked really well. Even if I did get schooled in the discussion groups   Okay that your machine somebody didn't want it and gave it to me. So it to prevent the beaker from sitting on the very bottom not that it hurt the little machine as far as I get tell I have a piece of plastic with square holes in it and it fits in the tank units up about hard to tell the picture but at least half an inch maybe an inch than the beaker can sit on that and not be on top of the transducer.
    • I did say  late 1800's into the 1900's. Yes that fits nicely.
    • It looks like a problem with the top pivot. I can't see anything wrong wth the hairspring. Is the chaton sitting correctly? Check the pivot and jewels for dirt and damage. It could also be an end-shake problem, so I am surprised that shimming doesn't help.
