Holla All!

I’m Chris, from San Diego.

I’ve inherited a small butt-load of watches (I believe that’s a horological measurement) about 15 years ago, I thought I would have them repaired as I could afford them but instead they've all just languished in a box in the garage. Recently I've been watching watch repair videos on YouTube and I thought it might be an enjoyable challenge to repair them myself. I know a few of my watches holds at least some monitory value but the majority hold only sentimental value. Way back when I brought most of them to a local jeweler to get repair cost for the estate and I was a bit shocked at the numbers. I'll get into detail later.

So, I don’t know anything about watches, but I do restore antique tools and furniture so I figure If I have the patients to spend 90 hours hand sanding one mid century modern chair, or get a 120 year old hand plane within .001 inches of true square, I might have what it takes to give watch repair a crack.

I’ll be posting my collection soon to get advice regarding where I should start, what tools I need, which watches I shouldn’t touch until I get enough experience and which I shouldn’t touch at all and should leave to a professional.

Hope to see you around,

Ciao

Chris
