Hi jdm  a brilliant bit of film, In my apprenticeship days we did work at a Forge in Leeds that in places was not unlike this.  Dante's  Inferno ,  and the heat and noise was terrible  No health and Safety those days.  enjoyed watching that.thanks

My, how far we  have come in the interest of speed, efficiency and safety. I was thinking when I was first watching this that it had nothing to do with steel that the guy was a potter. Even when the hammer forge was going I couldn't figure out what it had to do with the potter. Then I saw those weren't pots, but crucibles for smelting iron. I wonder what the injury rate was in this profession back then, yikes. That guy that was making those crucibles was ripped. I'm too unmotivated, lol
