  1. Here is another watch found in my dad's collection of abandoned watches. When I discovered it, I saw that it would run fine but lost tons of time. After dusting off my brain and recalling what my dad taught me and with a little help from the internet, I set about to tighten the canon pinion. Whoooo...very scary, but I seem to have been successful. It keeps great time. After polishing the crystal, it is a real beauty.

  2. So check this out I had an elgin 539 a-11 hacking movement with a bad balance, i swapped the balance and realized it just did not work, (and yes i checked the hack lever, the stem was still in) I did nothing to this movement, didnt disassemble clean or do anything. I put the movement back in my organizer bin, and a couple days ago I opened it to start the service on it. However oddly enough as soon as I picked it up it started ticking away, so then I winded it up put a dial and hands on it and boom! This thing is still running! its been almost 42 hrs now and its keeping DEAD accurate time. I have never been able to get these results even when I do service them....like what are the odds, did some kind of angel possess this watch or is this just something that happens???

  5. If the seller promised that it was working, return it and ask for a refund. Otherwise if you will try to repair it yourself I wish you better luck than with the Seiko you have asked about previously.

  7. Hi Mike As Poljot remarked there are a lot of choices and many will do the job so in the end its down to personal choice. The chosen one looks very capable and is astheticaly pleasing to the eye, a clean and simple line and should do good service. all the best

  9. I actually already placed two LED table lamps - one on each side. Something almost identical to this, but not that expensive. I can tilt, turn, adjust them and they are not hot https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ott-Lite-OttLite-Refine-LED-Antique-Brass-Desk-Lamp/359428330

  11. I am using Titan Tool Supply FO-150 Microscope Light Source for my Microscope. Not the best option as it uses 100W bulb and a fairly noisy fan (not annoying, but..). I bought it a long time ago, paid a lot, but now they are so cheap ? . Well - good for other people! It provides excellent light for the microscope - that's all i need. And also i have this lamp in black - can't really recommend it, but again - it does the job. https://www.diverseelectronics.com/products/Magnifier-Workbench-Lamp-3-Diopter-1-75X-Mag-p5824/

  12. Can the crown be pulled out from winding position to hand setting position? Or is that stuck in one position only? If it is stuck in one position, the sliding pinion is probably rusted stuck to the winding stem. You can try putting some penetrating oil around the area and leave it for a day or so. Be careful no to get the penetrating oil onto the dial.

  13. Finished case. Still has a few minor marks but. I think if I went further then I would start losing the case lines and sweeps. In any case this watch is 50 years old so I don't want it absolutely pristine. VID_20201231_183617828.mp4
