  1. Hello everyone, Just satisfied my degree requirements last week, so have a little bit of time to post. Don't know how many of you run into watchcases that have worn or broken lugs....I had a Girard Perregaux watch case with the lug holes so worn I was afraid to wear it--there was just a thin band of metal left on the lug. I sent it away for plugging and redrilling of lugs plus refinishing. Very good job! This movement (GP 03bg, adjusted) has a nice looking star decoration over the non-shock protected balance jewel. I have not seen one like it before. J GP 03BG 607.pdf

  4. I've never seen screw heads with anything other than slotted screws in Swiss watch movements, although Philips head screws are used in watchcases and Seiko. Maybe this will help? J

  5. I use the second method. As i am elderly i tend to shake a little making the first method difficult. But that can be risky and i think u can bend the pivot if you hold to tight? On balances that has a jewel that you can remove . I do that and put it back after i have put the balance back on the movement?

  6. This morning I could pick my latest goody for my collection. A Certina Club 2000 from around 1968 in absolutely amazing unworn conditions. I don't dare to wear it! I haven't checked yet but it is supposed to have a Certina 25-661 manual winding movement and of course it is a "Pre Hayek" Certina.

  7. Take a look here. http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=SEK+CS%236119-6400&submit=Search There you can see which parts you need. Finding them on Ebay and other places. You will need a special stem and gear for the inner bezel to work. That is not easy to find. And will cost some money.

  9. The determination of "weight" is, in a sense, subjective. There are very predictable positions in the watch's posture. One of them is "Dial up". We assume that 8 hours rest and the clock as norm is in that position. That position will have more weight. There are less likely positions: Dial Down. Although not common, if possible. For example when our palm is up. That position has a smaller "weight." The "crown up" position is unlikely too, and it is presented when we raise the hand to the height of the face and the elbow in its lowest position. And so on. Although we can make an average we give priority to certain positions. The watchmaker should know to some degree the habits of his client. Or if we do it without being watchmakers, we know our habits. This is my opinion, and I would appreciate if anyone can add something to this.

  11. That is a ETA 944.111 movement? Not sure but i don't think they are that common this days? If you don't succeed i think i have a couple of NOS circuit boards that was left over from a project that didn't went that well. Movement was to rusty.

  16. I have not seen one of these before but most pocket watches the crown has to be fully in the out position. Then the movement will come out through the front & I suspect that lever/clip you have highlighted is the release. However I found this youtube vid which shows it could be a snap back.

  17. I am interested in buying this set of screwdrivers from Watchtool.co.uk, but i have read that the website has many bad reviews. I really like the screwdrivers and base for the price and I haven't been able to find it elsewhere online. Has anyone ever had a problem with this site shipping to the U.S.? or has anyone ever purchased these screwdrivers and has a good review? Any input is appreciated. http://www.watchtool.co.uk/switzerland-189770-screwdrivers-stand-p-7762.html
