  1. And its arrived, surprised it survived the journey from Italy, the seller wrapped the watch in newspaper, and gaffa taped it together, and put it into a large DHL bag. Anyway, confirmed as suspected, 17J Gold ETA 7750. The case is in bad shape, a few dings, dents and scratches here and there, plus the crown is a bugger to get ahold of due to its construction. Seems to be running well though, so may harvest the monemnernt for something else. DSC07267 by Micky Aldridge, on Flickr

  2. Sorry to say that your pivots aren't just worn out, they are altogether absent, and your rim is out of flat. You're going to need a new balance staff, so your staking set will come in handy again, and you're going to need a set of truing callipers so that you can sort out the rim. Unless of course you can find a replacement balance complete in suitable condition.

  3. If You are out of range with the regulator then the collet on the balance should be moved. I would put the regulator to middle position, set the hairspring collet respect to the impulse jewel like in Marks video and finally set the beat with the fine regulator according to the timing computer.

  4. Are you using Boley eshop? Seems a well founded shop with lot of goodies so i decided to put it in my suppliers list. I used the sign up page and filled all the fields before a week but since now i havent any reply from them , i sent them email yesterday asking whats the issue but nothing . Is it normal to wait so long to get your login info?

  5. Haven't got a spare spring but as a point of interest, the serial number indicates manufacture to be circa 1885 Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

  6. I've cleaned things directly in the tank and indirectly in jars with no difference in cleaning quality whatsoever. For items like watch cases and bracelets, I just place them directly in the basket an use plain water.

  7. The ultrasonic vibrations penetrate the glass. Using small jars is the most economical way of using cleaner. I think the ultrasonic leaner I recommended comes complete with basket for playing your jars in.

  17. So tonight I will true the balance using my new old truing callipers, and proceeding as indicated in the following text. The bend I created was from staking the hairspring collet with a hammer, when I should have just pressed down on the stake with my thumb. Live and learn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Nothing you can do will salvage a dial with the damage you described (pics don't show it) You will need to replace dial.

  20. If you can find a replacement I would do that. The amplitude is way to low so I would address that as well. It could be the bent pivot or the usual suspects.

  21. Looking at some pics on the net: Victorinox Dive Master 500 is a screw back case so it should not be a problem for you to change the battery. However before re-screwing the back on (after checking the watch is functioning OK) put a tiny about of silicone grease on the case back thread. This will give a real good water proof seal.

  22. It's sometimes the only way when working with small movements. I've also used the "movement holder" as a case holder for holding small cocktail watches in the timegrapher.

  23. I have this dial from a parts 6106 movement. Private message me with your address and I will send it to you if you want it! Its in good shape if a little dusty from hanging around. Eric
