Hi everyone,

              I've been collecting and restoring Seiko's for about 10 years now. I've also been accumulating tools and equipment to fully service their movements. I stumbled across this forum while doing research on Seiko lubricant's and decided it was a great knowledge base and decided to join up.

If you're referring to the stem release issue on the 6139's, 6138's, and others where the keyless works fall out of position after removing the stem, it's due to pressing the stem release button and removing the stem + crown while the crown is pulled to the time setting position (number 2 position) rather then the crown being in the number 1 position.

 

Often times you can coax the release button back into position by inserting the stem slightly in the direction of the button and giggling it gently until things line up. If you're unsuccessful then the dial, hands, day + date wheels must be removed to access the keyless works.
