Movement Holders

Hi,

I'm thinking of investing in some specific size movement holders, like these at Cousins - https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/by-size-bergeon-1996- although I'll be looking for cheaper if possible ;)! I do like the centre support they offer as compared to the adjustable ones.

Which sizes do you think would be the mist useful to have? I never think of movements in ligne or mm so I don't have a clue on sizes. I only ever work on gents watches, usually from 1960s/70s to date. What are common sizes? Thanks.

Movements of the fifties and sixties are in the 10, 11 12 lines ranges. For example a typical Bulova caliber of the 50s is the 10BPAC which is a 10.5 line;

I have never used such movement holders. All I ever used for watches was an adjustable movement vice for the work bench.

Here in the States you can get two watch movement vises in two sizes like oldhippy said, small ligne sizes and one for large ligne sizes.  :thumbsu:

Which makes 4 size because each is reversible. Less than $5 on aliexpress.

In my opinion for most watches normal watch clamps work great. However when working on a chronograph to check all functions it is so much easier to have a dedicated clamp such as below.
