Hi All

I'm Peter, a keen eBayer, and after selling many pre-loved old mechanical watches as "Spares or Repair", I would like to get to grips with tinkering, servicing and general watch repair.

So I'm here to make friends, pick brains and increase my (now) hobby!

Pick brains?

Good luck with that, we're all as much in the dark as you are (at least it feels that way sometimes when you lose something as big as a canon pinion).

Welcome to a great little forum.

I've found some great tips here, especially from our mentor (Mark) and other gurus like Lawson et al who have given us all invaluable education for free.

Get yourself ready to spend money on clunkers and tools

Thank you all for the very warm welcome!  I have a few "clunkers" sat aside from my "won't sell individually" pile so am planning a working start this weekend!

Oh, and a 1970s Avia "le Mans style" wristwatch, bought for £1 just made £155 for me on eBay - I'm GUTTED, I part hoped it wouldn't go, so I could qwear it myself!

Hi Peter!

I'm more or less in your position with a few reasonable watches and a few nice ones but no real hands on experience (no pun intended but I like a good pun)!

I'm over in Folkestone so if you're ever this way let me know.

Welcome aboard!

Hi Dadistic - I know!  When I've cleared the old "hasn't gon on eBay" stock via boot-fayre, they're at my boot, picking and questioning before I've even started unpacking!

Hi Clockwatcher - will do, thank you!
