Good day everyone! I am new to your forum. I got a strange Looping travel watch. It is made in Switzerland. But I have not met this type of mechanism anywhere. So I'm posting a photo, maybe someone knows this type of mechanism. Best regards, Peter

It has one winder that winds the going and the alarm side, the alarm runs if you do not stop it or shall I say you fail to wake up it will run down and stop by means of a stop work. They are good movements and the parts should be cleaned in a watch cleaning machine. It is an easy movement to take apart and put back. I would suggest you take loads of photos as you take it apart. Oils to use a good pocket watch oil on the going and alarm, windles clock oil for the barrel spring and arbor and on the alarm wheel next to the hammer and where the hammer contacts the hammer wheel. Just ask if you need anymore advice.

Good evening! Thank you for your attention and understanding! Do you sometimes have a scheme for assembling the mechanism of this type of watch? It appears to be Looping caliber 44/45. Or a link to a site where you could download such a scheme. I would be very grateful!

Regards,

Peter

Thanks, Oldhippy!!!

Best regards,

Peter

Sorry to say. You wan't find technical data for clocks not like you expect for watches. You might find how to assemble some types of clock movements in clock books.

Good morning! I need a circuit for assembling Looping clocks. I have already repaired it. The clock works fine. Just wanted to learn more about Looping.

Best regards, Peter

I think Peter means diagrams or schematics.

If that is the case I have already answered that question.

As far as we know, clock data sheets do not exist in the English language. Perhaps you can try searching fir it in another language like German, French, Italian or Chinese.

I will be following this thread.  I have a Looping travel alarm clock also, and I will post pictures of mine in a bit.  But I did not find any technical documents or diagrams about it either.

Addendum: adding pictures of my own movement.  It is in fantastic condition and amazingly accurate.  It is apparently very rugged also, because its case was a wreck.  I plan to make a beautiful case for it later.

    • Thanks for the answers. In my case space is very limited: I only have the kitchen table on evenings. This is why I am considering a mostly water-based system (keeping heptane only for balance complete and pallets) and no cabinets, no big machines. Any advice for water-based detergents that I could procure from Sweden (ordering from Cousins is OK especially for non-hazardous liquids because normal shipping would be used). Should I really get an ultrasonic for those or would it also work by hand? Thanks!
    • I'm glad it worked out well for you. Must feel good to learn some new watchmaking black magic huh? 😂 Can you post a photo of the crown after all this, I'm a bit interested in how it looks compare to how yellow it was before, never thought alum could dissolve oxidation as well, maybe I can work out the chemistry behind it, something to do with the electrochemistry list, but I'm too lazy for it so 😂 you are lucky it was only yellow, the layer must be so thin it didn/t damage the finishing enough to be noticeable.
    • Thank you Andy, I will keep that in mind.  Fortunately this time, I tried to drill the stem out before finding out about the alum method, therefore most of the stem was hollowed out.  When I took the crown out of the third bath, I was able to screw the whole replacement stem in.  It us now in the ultrasonic cleaner to get any remaining gunk out. claudio
    • I haven't been on the forum for a while 🙃 A family member had a 955.112 watch running with an intermittent fault. Bought a NOS 955.112 movement, but to be sure, I'll give it a full service. It has been a long time since I did the 955.112, so I went back to @VWatchie walk-through ........ Again, I'm struck by the quality of it ❣️ Superb work 👏 🫶 🙏
    • Hi Neven , Agree we you that guard pin is in general a suspect , but OP replaced the fork, no joy.  Perhaps roller is damaged or misses the guard pin, so OP is going to check the escapement with high magnification &  adjust end shakes as well. Regs
