Question For Exacto Watch...

Recommended Posts

Hi to all..

Okay, I have an Exacto watch model 5007-C. Super automatic , 30 jewels incabloc, is it a good watch or not ? So my question is : who's made this brand, and the year of this watch..

PS: i will need a casing for it because the lugs are broken :( But I guess it will be lot of money for the shipping :(....Thank you in advance for your comments.

Denis.

I agree, with clockboy, a case may be difficult. I have only seen that brand on cutting/design instruments! In any case, Swiss made is an indication of a quality movement inside. If it wasn't for the lugs it would be nice to wear it!

My guess is an AS1700.

It's definitely an AS movement based on the shape of the rotor, the retaining plate in the middle of the rotor, and the general look of the thing.

The 1700 was supplied in various different jewel counts from 17 at least up to 41, including a 30 jewel variant. Don't be taken in by the jewel count though, pretty much everything over 23 in the 1700 is functionless, and not all of the 23 serve any benefit to actual time keeping.

You can find as1700 powered watches quite easily on eBay but its unlikely that you'll find and exacto one. Rados use them quite often but they're usually in stainless steel, you have to live with a rado case back tho.

If you are going down this road, try to get a donor case with crown stem as it is unlikely yours will fit and it'll save you a lot of hassle.

    • Hi @HectorLooi duly noted, although strangely I never had a cough or coughed anything up  just couldn’t breath. Getting better now still on oxygen.
    • I've had a few like that as well, i have even added that bend in before thinking the regulating pins would track the hairspring better. Not really sure how different the timing would be with and without it . Yep see it Nev , a kind of shallow bend.
    • If I mess up oiling a cap jewel. I wipe it with Rodico, dunk it in some IPA and rub gently on some tissue paper. I usually don't need to reapply epilame.
    • OK, apologies - I'm not familiar with all the different styles yet. The flat ones in the watches I've worked in recently don't have kink like that.
    • I wish to share my experience with thyme tea with everyone. Six months ago when I had my second bout of Covid, my chest was so congested that breathing deeply hurt. Coughing was pure agony. And with a 40°C fever that comes back every 6 hours when the level of paracetamol in the blood falls, I was willing to try anything.  Then I saw this video on YouTube and I decided to give it try. I drank a cup of the stuff and went back to bed. When I woke up about an hour later, I coughed up a golf ball sized lump of greenish-yellow phlegm. And almost immediately, all symptoms suddenly abated. 24hrs later, I was feeling perfectly fine. I repeated an ART test and it was negative. I started recommending it to some of my friends and many of them found it useful, although some claimed it had no effect. I had another round of Covid last week. I tested positive on Thursday and although the symptoms were very mild, I drank a cup of thyme tea just to play safe. And by Friday evening all symptoms were gone. I repeated an ART test and it was negative. If any of you read this, try it out the next time you get Covid or the flu. Let me know your experience with thyme tea. @watchweasol, you might like to take note of this.
