Hello, most service video I see disassemble the barrel and lubricate the mainspring. At this point I do not have a mainspring winder. The movements I am working with are st36 (clone of 6497-2 or OP-XI) do you know if one of the winders in the affordable chinese sets would work for one. I also have an NH35A that I plan to practice on when I am happy with what I can do in the larger and simpler ST 36. Same question applies. This is the one I was looking at but if there are other recommendations I will gladly follow them https://a.aliexpress.com/_msMF3xc -
Finally got back to this project. Lighter fluid was the winner here. As soon as I dipped the spring into it, the turns separated like magic. Dried it up and the balance spring now looks perfect so it seems it was a residue of some sort either from the B dip or the crud it was trying to remove. I'll use what B dip I have left on jewels since I haven't had a problem on those yet, but I think once it's gone I won't be using it again and will stick to good old wholesome solvents.

Thanks I did see it and all his basic videos. Him and the chronoglide channel have been my main source of I formation. Of course a few more channels but those two are very useful.
