I have a watch from my Father who passed away in 1949 and when my Mother passed last year I got his watch that's been in storage since 1949 it runs good but runs very fast gains over 20 minutes in a day I took the movement out and the FA  SR adjustment is as far right as it can go. Do I need to send it in or is it a easy fix. There no markings on the outside but the back of the movement it has BENRUS WATCH CO. FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS  SWISS THREE 5 ADJ. SHOCK ABSORBER and the case has 10K  R.G.P.  When I went to clean the crystal it popped out from in to outside was it glued in.

The hairspring loops dont appear to be concentric. They seem bunched up on one side and spaced far apart on the other. Would it be possible to get a clear, closeup photo of the hairspring to confirm my suspicion? A bunched up hairspring can absolutely effect the beat rate. If my suspicion is correct as to what may be happening, this might be a relatively easy fix.

to properly demag., take the balance (with the hair spring) out and demag. it seperatly.   sometimes you can tell if it is by passing a small compas over it.

I can see I'm not know enough to repair it myself and do not have the tools so any good places to send it to for repair.

Check thread below for an idea of the prices, just replace pounds with dollars give or take, and your country watchmaker association that publishes affiliates directory is AWCI not BHI.

Difficult to dive into a watch that has deep personal meaning when your experience meter is low. Without holding your watch in my hand it's difficult to know what is needed. A simple service and repair without parts involved can be hundreds of dollars. If this watch were a premium luxury brand, servicing can run into the thousands of dollars and take nearly a year for the round trip. I wish you the best on this and please, keep us updated!
