I believe I have neglected to introduce myself earlier, so I am doing so now.  A retired mechanical engineer, I worked in the chemical and small mechanical assembly industries during my career.  Still exploring repair, I am a hobbyist who enjoys reading, learning, and then doing repair and improvement.  I'm not a watch modder, and don't usually do repairs for others.  I live in the Atlanta, Georgia, USA area where there are about zero watch resources, other than a few repair businesses. 

I collect what interests me, both mechanical and better quartz watches.  I'm not focused on any one brand or type.  I've changed out a quartz movement, hand sets, and innumerable batteries but have not as yet tried more difficult repairs like a teardown, clean and oil.  Now that I am retired, I may buy an eBay beater, and give that a whirl.  And down the rabbit hole I go....
