  1. I found this one so unpretentious yet very elegant and so pleasurable to wear , I still hesitate to buy the moon watch (too iconic may be) , this one seems to have earned its nobility instead of been born with it and I like that. just beautiful.

  2. As others have said, it's the quality of the blades that's the most important factor. However, I decided to treat myself to a recent birthday present with a set of VOH screwdrivers, they are an absolute pleasure to use (and have a nicer feel than any Bergeon, Horotec or AF that I've used). But I also use various other screwdrivers where one of the VOHs isn't suitable, these are mostly tailored and dressed for individual tasks, here are about half of them  And also as others have said, shaping and finishing the blades is critical to maintaining good tools and reducing the risk of damage to scres and other delicate bits.

  4. I'm really quite enjoying this thread. Partly because of all the fantastic watches that other people are posting, but also because I am really looking at my own collection and rediscovering neglected pieces. Today's offering is a case in point; my Mondia Sea Scout. I mentioned this one in an earlier post as the watch that first got me interested in the Mondia brand. It was my 16th birthday present from my parents and my first proper watch so has a lot of sentimental value. Needs a service and a new crystal but otherwise a great little watch.

  5. As you have found out repairs are difficult as parts a real problem to find. The same issue applies to this forums members unless there is a member who has the appropriate spares it is going to be difficult to find a repairer.

  6. Silly question as I'm sure you've explored all avenues but have you contacted the movement suppliers direct ? As you wish to protect and store their movements they may be kind enough to supply a batch to you or even give you the manufacturer name. Yours is a very specific requirement so I'm sure you will have to find the original manufacturer , probably in China, they won't advertise them for sale on the internet.

  7. That's a nice looking watch Kees, and well worth restoring. The hard winding is possibly just due to the excessively worn crown that will be hard to grip, and the slack hand will hopefully just require the cannon pinion to be tightened.

  9. This may be your lucky day. I don't need to tell you the days I spent searching to find what you want. They're slightly bigger than some I had from China but as I couldn't find that supplier, when I came up with these decided to buy them. I really wanted to store pocket watch movements so they may be too big for you 51 mm Dia inside and overall 21 mm high with the top on. Not stiff hard plastic and the top pushes on a bit like kitchen storage boxes. 111792238212 Search this no. on eBay and it will bring up the item. Sorry I don't know how to make it a link. £3.99 + £0.95 postage for a pack of nine. I did ask for a price for 50 but he said " sorry they come in packs of 9 and we don't split them " ( Strange )

  11. But you are all missing the point. The final mark of quality is that the blades should be dressed with the Horotec or Bergeon twin roller sharpener that produces parallel faces at the blade end. $$$$$

  12. I'm the other extreme. i purchased a Chinese set that look like Bergeon, I have used them for four years now and only dressed them once. That was only because I made a jig for sharpening them. They have never bent or chipped in all the time I have had them, and all for £5.29 delivered. The proof of the pudding is long term use!

  13. Office bound today so the Lemania gets an outing. Probably my best car boot score to date at just £7.50. Filthy dirty and not running but all it needed was a COA, a light polish, and a replacement crystal and strap.
