  3. oldhippy, that bit on the barrel ive just found out is called a Geneva stop work, just read up about it, at first seems a little complicated to set up but not too bad. I'm sure you new all this already though.

  4. As said most , certainly American pocket watches, the crown has to be pulled up to the setting position to remove the movement from the front. Have you tried rotating the dial in either direction and it might fall out but keep it in the setting position Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk

  5. Just to let you know, I'm sure the 7s movement runs at 53 and not 52 for the lift angle, go to a site www.lepsi.ch/lift-angle/

  6. I love the Marvin's and the wind like no other watch that I have owned. One that is close is an old 20's Imperial winds almost as smoothly. fantastic piece I have one that I love wearing and needs servicing.

  7. Probably a BFG866 movement. there is a small screw near the stem. Loosening that about two turn and realese the stem and crown. The movement holder is just loose . It's the small tabs that stick out on the side. Just pull straight up.

  8. Thanks ... and appreciate the video link. Unfortunately I can't see that the back can be taken off. The 'neck' of the watch is moulded into and around the back so this seems to preclude a back opener ... plus there is no discernible lip of any kind; it seems a one-piece unit. I'm stumped! Any other ideas gratefully received!

  10. Not all movements, but a lot of them have parts / service sheets. If you go to Cousins UK download section they have lots that can be downloaded. https://www.cousinsuk.com/document/department/watch-movements Some are nothing more than a sheet with pictures of parts with their part numbers, but others can give oiling information or dimensions. In general there isn't a brand repair manual with some notable exceptions like Bulova Accutrons
