parts purchase on CousinsUK

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I will probably need to buy some spare parts for the movement I am working on at the moment (HB cal. 313), but is doesn't feel right to buy for example single cannon pinion for £5 and then pay extra £2.5 for the delivery.

Is there a way to dodge the delivery costs or can you recommend any other UK parts seller?

Thanks.

Spare a thought for us in Australia, we generally wouldn't be able to buy anything with less than £10 postage costs, so I just trawl the website and buy a few other things I need so the postage cost gets spread across more items, that way you don't feel so bad about it.

ok, no supporters of "free shipping" :) . yes spreading the cost of the shipping in larger order is something I would usually do...

Anyway for the second part of my question: Are there more parts sellers apart from Cousins?

Thanks.

I've got a list of a number of other tool and clock part suppliers in the UK, but for watch parts I think Cousins is the go to place for the UK.

There are obviously a number of watch part suppliers in the USA, but I'm guessing you are in the UK so the postage would cost even more.

I'm only just setting up to learn to repair watches so someone who has been in the game longer than me may know of other suppliers

Then buy some more stuff and spread the cost? £2,5 is not a big deal?

Besides i pay only £1,92 to Sweden . Why do you have to pay more then me when you are from UK ?

i can put it in my order that i am doing today or tomorrow and when i get i after new year i can send it to you for  £1,5 . Saving a £1?

Well, I usually don't have too much trouble finding other parts to throw in there to make the postage feel right but if you only have one project going I would suggest using the opportunity to toss in something else that you'll need in the future- just about any tool comes to mind.

I'll add that the postage is probably about as good as it will get though.  It's an hour and a half drive from Otto Frei to my door and still can't get postage below $12 for any purchase from them.  I'd purchase direct but parking would probably end up being $12...  <_<

Your probably not going to get the part from anywhere cheaper than you can get it from cousins. Why exactly does it not feel right to have to spend a couple of pound on postage? Cousins wont get it for free. I bet you've spent more on a cup of coffee and a traybake at costa!
