Fitting Hands

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Can anyone offer some advice on fitting hands to mechanical movements in particular the Seconds hand thats the one I have most difficulty with.

Seems to be easier with quartz which I haven't had much trouble with.

Thank you.

In what way is it difficult? To find the pinion or to press it on? I use a tweezer which i hold the second hand with .And i can put it on the pinion . Then i often take a piece of pegwood to press it on with .

Some use rodico to hold the hands with. Subhands are a **BLEEP** though :)

Both finding the pinion and pressing on, also worried about causing damage if I press too hard.

Thank you for the input.

It's the one with the smaller pivot, because of that it may be difficult to center. What I do is to place it with the movement running. When I see it turning I know it's safe to press down.
