Hi with the takeover of the ebauches , and various other swiss watch companies By the SWATCH group the information on ETA watches is now getting harder to obtain unless you are a purchaser of their products.  The ETA tech data Base is now enclosed within that realm. Trade Only

The 978.001 is practicaly the same as the 978.002 and is an obselete movement.
I dont have the tech sheet for this but as it came in many shapes one could use a third party manual like this.

Certina 133 is the same movement to

Or why not just replace it with this one.

The only downside is the dial is not always compatible with the Ronda movement.

Took a look at this mystery, it seems no tech sheets are availible for this one so the close match and recommended replacement seemed to be the 976.001, but there are quite obvious differences in these two movements so they are not 100% the same but really close. Found some specimens in the bin to show the differences.

As expected the 978.002 only shovs the mechanical outlines at ETA.

But for the 976.001 they have the whole techsheet shaboom.

So you probably have to go with the 976-001 for this one.

    • Yep, i pulled that up as well when i was looking,  there is definitely parts out there if you are prepared to go out and find them.  I watched that video years ago, I'm not so sure about probing the coil like that. If you are going to touch the coil use the side of the probe or at least shape a nice round end to it.
