Vintage watch help

The five star admiral Longines, looks genuine, original hands, dial. Good brand.

Evidence of moisture inside the case therefore the movement. I would remove the back, peak inside, send picture and test the set mech, winder.

Moisture damage to the dial, greately reduces the value. Aprox $350

The vulcain, dial is looks suspecious, examine close see if painted, see if the word swiss appear at six oclock. $30

Tissot, check the extend of water and other damges inside, $25

Seiko chrono aprox $150

Between the two of us, take ths GUB home, very liitle work. Best of the herd. Don,t know a price.

The Russian one, just that its chrono. Values not much.

My appraisal is usually ignored.

Enjoy em in good health, I would post a query for advice on how to the longine dial, or have it cleaned.Unless experienced you shouldn,t attack the dial.

Best wishes.

the reliance will likely have a seiko movement akin to the 66..The ones I have seen were sold by croton as their budget line, something like a caravelle by bulova.

Do you know what movement the admiral 5 star is expected to have?

I thought NuceJoe would say the caseing on this one is unique he usually has a sharp eye, I haven't seen it before since the most of these came with an 18k gold case.

Depending on what year the watch was produced it came with a range of different movements, here is a selection..

calibre 340
calibre 501
calibre 506
calibre 507
calibre 508
calibre L 636.5
calibre 1753
calibre 6651

Since your watch looks like a 70's piece I would guess it should have a calibre 50X inside, but this is a tricky one..

Lorsa is of course a possibility..but since I didn't see the word FRANCE at the bottom of the dial.I thought JAPAN.

That Reliance really looks like my Leon Piraguet 17 jewels ... case/bezel/crown/hands/etc ... even the design of the dial is similar except mine has a Lorsa P75 inside.
That's why I thought about a Lorsa P72

    • Just missed it! I have a donor movement on its way. But thank you for the offer--I'll let you know if I need anything else.
    • My latest. Timex 2465. Replaced the crystal, caseback gasket and spring bars. All in less than $5US. Added a gray NATO strap I already had in stock.
    • I have some Gruen 510's in my donor pile if you need parts.
    • I've been intrigued by everyone's input here...so I decided to give this a shot. I bought the"typical" Pearl watch-machine basket and trays, for about $65. The trays are good,..the housing is a nightmare ! Thought it would take the mixer off my bench at anything above about 200rpm. The housing is cast of course,..and it's not "true" at all...so the harmonic vibration was insane. So,..I bit the bullet and bought the Elma housing and top. Not the baskets though, as the Pearl one's fit the Elma. Saved a bunch there. The basket and lid came to about $80 with shipping. The opening in the Elma top is 8mm, and the shaft that came with my stirrer is 6mm. I bought a piece of steel tube, 8mm O.D., and 6mm I.D. Cut off about an inch of the tube, and drove the rod into it. Gives a really snug fit.... Lightly champfered the leading edge of the 8mm section, then lightly tapped it into the top of the Elma lid. Spins like a dream now So... I have about $240 total into this including jars and steel mesh for the wave breakers   I'm pretty happy Best to you all   Randy
    • Still haven't gotten around to getting stems or screws, but I did make my first attempt at polishing a case. I just used a soft mop and rouge to reduce my odds of ruining them, and I think they came up pretty nice. Also gave the crystals a polish on the same wheel while I was at it. They were both very badly scratched up. The one on the left is fairly beat up, but it'll still make for a decent presentation.
