A Marvin For Christmas

I've been looking out for something special for my Christmas present this year. And I thought to myself, "I wouldn't mind a wrist watch for a change..." :D

So I'm about to acquire this lovely Marvin military style model - complete with original Marvin Bonklip strap. Probably 1950s - brilliant condition and a lovely cal. 520 movement. But when it arrives (sob) it has to be put away!

Very nice watch Will, I love the fact that it comes with a bonklip strap of which I'm a fan. I have a Seiko military style dial fitted with one and I simply love it. The down side is, in my case, I have to be careful when I wear it...it feels it can open at any time although I'm sure it is simply me!

The Marvin arrived this morning and has been duly drooled over. I'm allowed to wear it for today - then it has to be locked away in a secret vault deep in a dark cave at the bottom of a vast mine in a faraway country. In other words, somewhere in one of the drawers in madame's bedside cabinet. Fresh pics below - and click the link for a spot of Marvin from 2011... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vnY6m8HM0E

Great watch! I had my eye on that one too! Almost identical to mine but in better shape. I have managed to polish the scratches out of the crystal for now. i don't wear mine everyday either. I will say this the winding mechanism on mine is like silk. It has such a smooth wind!

Great purchase! You will be very happy! Congrats!

Will,

I very may have borrowed your phrase "winds like silk" as I cannot think of a better description more befitting. I do wonder the difference. It is considerable. My Illinois pocket watch is pretty smooth as well. Craftsmanship, I suppose.
