  1. Therefore I believe it's a genuinely bad idea to mix various cultures in a confined geographical area. I would love to be surrounded by a culture of nymphomaniacs I'm sure any cultural differences could be worked out with intensive practice.

  2. Lorsa 237B movement. Part of an eBay lot of 4 watches. Won for £7.50 !!! Some Googling suggests WWII era. Is running but needs a good sorting out as the balance staff seems to be well worn (loads of endshake).

  3. Are you sure about the thickness size? It looks much too thick, average size for a 17 mm barrel is 0.20 mm (and length 500...550 mm). Frank

  4. My mom asked me for a painting for some work she did on my behalf. I hate waiting to give repayments because sometimes they get swept under the rug, so I got on it. I didn’t feel like painting on a canvas and wanted to show her what I enjoy at the moment. Her favorite color is cobalt blue so I think this is the perfect dial. I went through the mechanism, made repairs and performed maintenance and got the watch running. I always learn something with each repair and this was no exception. I painted a small butterfly in the back cover but since it was so small, it didn’t read well. I gave her a painting of the best part of the butterfly and added gold around the inside rim to match the bow and pin. I really like the way it turned out!

  5. Hi @KarlvonKoln, Am I missing a measurement that I haven't listed already? I thought I had everything measured. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll give them a shot if the UK suppliers don't work out. Cheers.

  7. That is German made by Kienzle, it's a Westminster chime and should run for 8 days. It was made before 1939. Nice clock and depending on the case and wood can determine on it loudness. Look after it and it will last another 90 or so years, unlike the modern crap of today. Keep it away from central heating as it will dry out the oil and the wood.

  9. Ya, pringles new fangle potato chips and coke for a nice snak. @JS335 I forgot to mention the type of brush, one with strong bristles, used tooth brush will do, you are scrubbing as you are brushing, little water on the powdered detergent sort of cleansing with powdered detergent. Rinse under tap water and keep brushing as you rinse.

  10. I think anything with phosphoric acid would work. I used to have a lime scale remover product from Germany. I think it was called Sillit or something like that. Best stuff for removing rust and tarnish. But remember to wear gloves. Good ones even. Because latex surgical glove would disintegrate.

  12. NiSpan C is the generic name for Elinvar Extra, which is a fantastic hairspring material. It's more magnetic than Nivarox, but less than steel. It looks like British precision springs has some springs in the range that might work with your Oris that are NiSpan C. Otherwise at that quantity you can talk directly to Nivarox, or try www.atokalpa.ch, www.atlasmicrotech.ch, and www.precision-engineering.ch. Even at 1000 pcs, you will probably shocked at the price, definitely more expensive than the British company! Like 5-10x more. Are you planning on vibrating these yourself? You will need collets and studs, which the traditional type are hard to get now. The above Swiss companies can collet them with modern collets, at an extra expense of course.
