  1. I totally lucked out on this watch in several ways. First, I got it for a song, given how nice the case is. Second, even though it wasn't running, the only thing it took to start up was cleaning, lubricating, and a new mainspring. Third, once running it has averaged about +8spd, ranging from -15 to +25 spd while wearing it. I had dreamed about getting this running some day. I finally took the plunge a couple months ago after some success with other watches and corresponding confidence boost. What an incredible joy to get it working and wear it around (I am now officially hooked on watch repair). Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  2. FOUND IT!!!! It was the day-date corrector setting transmission wheel that did not engage in the notch on the stem. Due to bent pin clip inside the day-date corrector setting transmission wheel. I had to bent it in the right position. Then everything work perfect!! Thanks for all help JDM!! Is lovely, now I can go to sleep......

  3. Probably an issue with the forth wheel or escape wheel- a pivot may be bent or there may be dirt in the jewel. The time elapsed between running fast and slow is the clue- the wheels are turning freely then struggling with friction. Since the period between fast and slow is less than 60 seconds I would look closely at the escape wheel pivots and gear teeth.

  6. I believe the roller table isn't installed properly, it should be under the shoulder of the staff, not on top. It's a standard American pocket watch design. NO LOCKTITE!! LOL

  7. Thanks to all! The problem is solved! The washer goes between the pinion and the center wheel (Elgin safety pinion). I don't remember taking it apart. I did have one come apart on a previous movement which explains the second one I found. Someone just helped me with this problem, you think I would remember.

  8. Not odd at all. Perhaps it's because this is a message board that is dedicated to watches. If you go to a website that concentrates on the Consumer Protection Bureau (or other such thing), you'd hear plenty about white-collar crime. I, for one, certainly don't condone it, nor ignore it. I just don't tend to mention it here on watchrepairtalk.com.
