unusual case design.. Waltham made some quality stuff. I would say USD50 is good even if it does need to be fettled.

Does it run?

anilv is correct, nice case! dial & hands look clean, well worn crown and bow means it's been used a lot, wear on the back hints toward a base metal.  I have found most Waltham/Elgins have high production numbers, (thus affecting value)

Was there some reason you could not see movement?

The seller said that it was not running because in needed a "battery". I did not ask any questions; just bought it. It will arrive in a week or so and I will then have the data.

I had a bit of a chuckle when I heard battery and did not want to question it. Like the feeling of having found a potential treasure. The case could be base metal or white gold; who knows??

actually I like it when I hear that it needs a new battery when it's obviously a mechanical watch..it means the seller has no clue what he's selling!

Or the seller is pretending to be ignorant on purpose....

This could be a scam and I am the victim; true. We shall see, and it is worth the money to find out. I am an amateurs card and coin magician so I do understand deception:)

If paid with Paypal and/or a C/C, you are protected anyway. On another forum recently 6 people tried to buy a $400 watch for $50 from a clearly hacked account, "just because one never knows". They were lucky that the scammer could not cash it, thanks to Paypal funds freezing, so all were refunded, but that was not a intelligent attempt either.

I had a chat with the seller and it is on the up-and -up

Looks a nice watch but definitely not a "Sleeper" as looks to of had a fair lot of use. If it's a size 16 finding parts or even a donor movement for it shouldn't be a problem as 16 size was very popular. 18 size won't be an issue either.
