Seiko 7009A Hairspring

Hi everybody

I am trying to repair a Seiko 7009A and the hairspring needs to be replaced because it is beyond bending back into shape - at least by me.

Will any hairspring do or do I need to get one from Seiko?

I don't think Seiko has any hairspring anymore? Try speedtimerkollektions or thewatchcollector on Ebay . Changing  the complete balance is the easiest i think?

OK, perhaps I can get an ETA balance that will fit. The movement works up to and including the pallet lever so I think I can get it working.

Here a re couple of docs I find on the net a few years ago. They explain better than me but it is possible to fit a hairspring providing it is the correct strength & length.

I'm pretty sure that you can fit a balance complete from the 7S26. If it is from a B or C version you need to replace the balance cock.

Of course the alternative is to get cheap mov.s or watches to get the part.

Just found that Cousins has the A version balance complete in stock and it doesn't break the bank. The B/C version kind of hurts and is not in stock either.

Thank you - I'll have a look. It may cost a bit for shipping but it isn't exactly heavy. ;-)

Pile up stuff up to 30 pounds (as in quids not fourteenths of a stone) and enjoy lowest shipping cost; for is cheap to anywhere.

I just found a balance assembly in Canada for the watch so I'll buy it here from Perrin's but, thank you for the advice. I may yet use Cousins.
