Christmas to yourself Louis? Your Speedmaster is a nice looking watch, and unless I'm mistaken it is ETA 7751 based movement inside. I suggest that you keep it on a watch winder as these movements are a real pain in the bum when you have to set all the functions!

or I could send it to you to set for me .

Please don't, I have a similar type of beastie that when on my wrist only tells the time 'cause I can't be **BLEEP**d setting all the functions. I used to when I first got it at first.

Oh Happy Day...New Years Eve and the postman delivered my Triple date .  Man , I love it .

Aloha Geo ....I was kinda intimidated when you mentioned setting the functions , but I find it user friendly to set ..... A lot easier than some solar powered , satellite or radio controlled , Perpetual calendar , etc. etc , watches I have . I do have to go to watch college for them . :geek: ...

This Baby is nice...

The postman also brought me this vintage Swiss Lucien Piccard Seashark....watch and case only . I had bought a genuine LP watchband previously , ...in case I won the watch . The pics of the watch on ebay were dark and obscure and not much of a description which kept other bidders away , so I picked it up at a bargin compared to the other Seasharks offered .

i noticed the date right off. i like how they did the date hand. i like that better than a window. i have an Orvis quartz with one of those date hands.

yup, it's a beauty. the only thing i think omega could have done a better job on is the tachy ring. i don't know what it needs - just something. but i'd own it. yup.

very nice LP. there's a brand that i've never even considered. and i haven't seen very many.

The Omega is just perfect. What a beautiful watch to own and wear. You must be very proud.

I can't say I'm proud to finally get one , ...But I'm a happy puppy .  I almost put on another watch this morning ,....but I didn't .  I've been wearing it 3 days now , a record only beat by my underwear...... just kidding .

    • Never seen that but yes very practical Hector
    • Welcome, Simeon! I'm into Soviet watches too (not the political system, and yes, I am able to make the distinction, unlike some). They offer amazing value for money. I like your "Big Zero" profile image. It's a true classic and I have one of those myself. I noticed that the hands aren't the original. Not that it matters a lot but here's an interesting article about the Big Zero if you haven't already seen it.
    • I was thinking will the gasket stretch at all to match the desired size.  Did i also deduce that the original gasket is thinner (0 .5mm ) than the cousins gasket ( 0.8mm )  could that just be an effect of you measuring the case for the gasket size  H  ?
    • if we look at and understand why steel becomes magnetised and unmagnetised then its possible to work out why some devices are better than others. Simpy it is a parallel alignment of atoms , electrons within a material caused by external magnetic fields. Different magnetic fields cause different alignments and non alignment of atoms. Fields by AC currents are changing atom direction approx 50 times per second ( 50hz ). As a material is drawn away from a demagging device the field is becoming progressively weaker while also changing the material's atom direction having the effect of returning their random directions ( demagnetising ) . To improve on this demagetising effect, try changing the material's orientation as it is drawn away.  Fields caused by DC currents have the most permanent magnetising effect as the currect is flowing one way only. A good demagger would produce random magnet fields and disorientation of the material's atoms.
