I got bitten by the bug a few months ago and to date it has already cost me a fortune!! I’ve realised that watching proper watchmakers on YouTube doesn’t equate to watchmaking in real life for newbie’s!! I find it enjoyable yet frustrating in equal measure but the way I see it, if I mess up I can only learn from my mistakes. I’ve currently destroyed two balance wheels, a couple of hairsprings and a mainspring so please can someone reassure me that I’m not the only one!!

I have found that I have two nemeses already, they being clicks and click springs and case screws. Bizarrely I quite enjoy balance staffs ,despite destroying the balance wheels, and fitting train wheel bridges.

Anyway, I’ve yet to actually complete a project but I am confident I will within the next 6 weeks….watch this space though. (Pun intended)

Thank you for your introduction and welcome to this friendly forum.

We all look forward to your contributions and continued involvement.

If there is anything we can help you with don’t be afraid to ask. Nice clear photos can help a lot.

Don't worry about breaking or screwing up we all at times do it.

From this, aka Omega 100 I think. There is a reason why the centre wheel is still in, someone (not me) had glued the hour hand on and I think it had run down and also glued the wheel to the cannon pinion.
I have a plan with the hairspring, I’m going to make myself a fine pick with some wooden dowels and a sewing needle. It won’t be easy and it will try my patience but I’ve got nothing to lose (well, not unless you count finances!)

Yes it's a 100 (26.5 T3) and I think your only option is to try and repair the spring as prices are stupid.

Try soaking it in acetone to dissolve / soften the glue.
