I received the attached ladies Longines watch, around 33mm. It has missing a caseback that needs replacing. I believe the model number is on the missing caseback. Anyone could offer some advice on how I could identify this in order to be able to get the right caseback replacement?

Thanks

Maybe search with the movement you have and roman indicies? Longines Lady watch and the size .Gold on steel . Date

And see what comes up? If there is anything similar?

I had to do this once through my company, I believe our workshop had to send it to Longines to get the part. I'm not aware of any short cut, like you say all the serial numbers are located on the case back, and most of these Swiss manufacturers aren't willing to spend time identifying one of their models over the phone, so it's a particularly difficult situation.

Funnily enough, as a side note, if you ever want Sekonda parts, at least in the UK, there's a guy who works in the spare parts department who's deeply familiar with every watch they've ever made, you describe it to him and he'll tell you which watch you're talking about, it would be nice if all manufacturers were like that, but I guess it's asking too much.

Try searching eBay for Ladies Longines Flagship and look for pictures where you can see the case back number. Alternatively you could search for a scan of a Longines catalogue from about 1990.

Is it genuine. It,s not a caliber I recognise.

Good question CB. It doesn't look genuine to me.

We need to see a picture of the movement.

Ah, that shows it in a different light, it dies look genuine and well worth finding a back. :)

I don't know where you will source one, but it should look like this:-

I have done a bit of research via the movement to help identify the caliber but I could not find an exact match. So I guess as you say it is a real vintage watch so finding a case back to fit is going to be very difficult.

For the benefit of others in future, I thought I'll add this additional information now.

I also found the attached image on eBay, it shows reference L5.131.3 (attached). Upon researching further, the L5.131.3 is the two-tone (gold and steel) model this "La Grande Classique de Longines" while the L5.131.3 is the gold model of this watch. I could see that CousinsUK sells some parts for this reference, but unfortunately for me, not the caseback.

PS: I also noticed that I have accidentally described the watch as 33mm, I meant to say 23mm.
