Hello everyone, I am Joost, new to this forum.
I am hoping to find some advise on a repair for my Seiko SQ100 5m43 watch. It started when I replaced the capaciter. That went well I think. But...when I had put everything back together I noticed that the hour hand does not match the hour when the minute hand is set to the 12 o'clock marker. My assumption is that this happend then I set the correct time and date. When turning the crown i felt some more friction. noticed that the hour hand didn't move with the minute hand anymore. when I turn the crown counter clockwise the friction was gone. Now I am not able to get it correct again.

Nb. I also noticed that the dial is not in the correct placement. The 12 o'clock marker is not exactly in the upright position.

Is there someone who can help my with a solution?
Maybe some instruction how to disasamble the crown and how to fix the hour hand and dial placement?

Looking forward to a response.

Kind regards, Joost

Hi welcome to the forum,     Never force anything with watches it’s too easy to break teeth off wheels or the pivots off the wheels.  That said by turning the crown forcibly that’s what you may have done. O r can remove the movement , remove the hands and re align them and re check it is possible you have got off lightly and jumped a tooth .i have attached the tech sheet for you to be able to identify the relevant parts.     You may have to remove the dial and hands to inspect the canon pinion and hour wheeel.

Thank you for your response Watchweasol! I will take your advise on the handeling with care :). altough I'm new to this handeling with such small parts and will have to find the right tools for the things you suggested I think.

Meanwhile i managed to disassamble the crown so I could take out the whole mechanism to sort out the dail placement. I noticed that the hands seem to be lose(?!). Hope I can find out if this is damaged or just have to re alaign it.

Hi the dial on most watches are held on by two dial feet which fit in to the movement  and are released by swiveling clips or screws at the sides of the watch. One can get reasonable tools, tweezers screwdrivers fron Cousins UK a material house in London , just browse their web site or download the catalogue.

Post photos of the back of the dial, it should have feet.

The feet were stil in de ring and not on the dial anymore. I went for a work around for now to fix it and see if I can put it back together with the hands in place.

I am over the moon! It worked!

Welcome to the WRT forum.

Seiko specializes in breakable dial feet.

If you ever run accross a Seiko with good dial feet, try alternatively pushing on free end of each foot instead of prying .
