eta caliber 251.272

Hi I have a Victorinox Maverick Chrono model # 241432 which uses an eta caliber 251.272 movement.

Today after changing the battery I noticed that it was still struggling to run properly. Any small bump would cause the seconds hand (in the lower 6 o'clock chrono) to stop and a gentle tap from the side or pressure to the back would get it running again momentarily. The chronograph aspect of the watch still runs just fine if I activate it so I am confused as to what could be going on with the seconds hand. I took it apart to check for debris and the seconds hand still moves freely, but will not run. Any ideas?

Worst case I am looking at ordering a replacement movement - but am also wondering if the date wheels are swappable. The replacement movements I have seen have the dates oriented for a 3 o'clock date window, whereas; the Maverick has the date window at 6 o'clock.

Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated!

sooner or later Any timepiece that has gears including quartz watch needs to be serviced. In other words taken apart cleaned and re-lubricated. But typically on quartz watches most of the time you can find a replacement movement. Otherwise you would have to service the watch.

I think it's just the printing on the disc for the date so if you change the disk I think it will work out fine. Providing there on even hours I think there is somewhere they could be like in between an hour and then that will not swap to another one because then you'd have half-and-half in the window.

Hi  Typically the chrono's have three registers one for each discipline, so whilst the other two are working ok the third is struggling. As John said quartz watches still need a service. The mechanical assembly still needs to be clean and lubricated.  The attached documents will enlighten you as to what is required.  The movements are listed as discontinued on Cousins web site. there were three options regarding the date.  date at 4  on two and date at 6 on the third.    Searching for a donor may be an option unless new NOS can be forund.  speedtimerkollection.com  or welwynwatchparts.co.uk are retailers of second user bits and movements.        cheers
