So I managed to straighten the pivot by holding the pinion in a pin vice and slowly rolling the pivot on hard metal surface while pushing on the side opposite the bend with tweezers. Just like in the video Mark posted earlier. I didn’t heat it but, if I need to do it again I will as it does make sense to do that I think. My backup was to order a new wheel but repovoting sounds interesting. It looks a bit out of my league at the moment though as I don’t have a lathe or the skill to use it! I’ll try leaving the canon pinion on longer for some added protection; it’s usually the first thing I take off. I would want it removed before taking off the train bridge though I guess. In this case though I think the solution is that I need to be more careful when dealing with the extended fourth wheel pivot!
