I am a mechanical engineer and have been interested in watch movements just like almost everyone but I don't have the patience to really study it.

One day I would like to have a Grand Seiko quartz or an automatic watch but that day will have to wait.

My father left me his Seiko quartz watch from the 1970's that he wore for 27yrs and I am trying to have it cleaned and repaired.

You might want to buy some older
watches with no sentimental value
to practice on first

So you make your learning curve
errors on those ones, not that
one watch you like.
