@JerseyMo What hands would this "Curse you, Red Baron!" Snoopy have had?

white baton hour and minute which easy enough to find. but the seconds is a plastic disk with printed graphics. I've never come across one in any NOS stock.

I did not need them, but could not resist. I don't know the type of the movement they belong to though. Maybe later when I gain a little bit of more experience, i learnt a lot just in one day by reading and watching videos and cleaning a movement. If you will ever need one, I am happy to send you one or two for the cost of P&P. ( I hope it does not violate the no sales rule. )

the plates are nice but, I have doubts they will be of much use.  This is because there are many missing parts. But, the real issue would be for the springs that are riveted in place.

I actually was thinking about the same after posting the pics. I have to set up a Timex factory now. ?

On a smaller scale - watches, tools, parts, parcels - it's like a minefield!

Mostly Hour & Minute Hands, not so many Sweep Second Hands. I find them a bit problematic as they are tubeless. I had to use my staking tool to reduce the hole diameter as it was too large placing the Sweep Second Hand too low / close to the Minute Hand. Without a tube, again, they require a bit more skills to set them parallel to other hands without pushing too low. Who does not love Timex watches, eh?..

Love 'em or hate 'em, you gotta admit, they are "interesing". ?

The manufacturing tolerances are not as fine as a quality mechanism, but that is part of their appeal from an engineering perspective.

They do have some clever shortcuts in order to keep the price down. Furthermore despite their built to a price nature, they also seem to have passed the test of time remarkably well.

I'm not sure the same can be said for some of the more modern offerings. Cheap quartz mechanisms tend to be a lot lest robust than clunky "clockwork toy" Timexes.

      @JohnR725 has pointed out many times that the Swiss don't care about amplitude, the timekeeping is the most important.  Give yourself a  pat on the back, great beat error and timekeeping, nothing to be disappointed about.

      This is as complicated as epilame, too many unknowns. The life expectancy in the UK is circa 80, so most people from 1944 or earlier are dead.  Assume they had children at circa 20, they died in 2004. Their children started selling 1944 watches in 2004, so pre-1944 watches must be getting more rare.   It doesn't work though because as you stated some were sold as tat, but since watch prices have increased people have decided to sell when they may not of done in the past.

      Questions about my Bravingtons Renown Mantel Clock

      I was wondering whether anyone could assist with some questions I have about my latest acquisition, which is a two train ‘Bravingtons Renown’ mantel clock - Pics attached I have done some reading about Bravingtons and believe they sourced movements from various suppliers, so I wondered whether anyone recognises this one. I have stripped and cleaned the movement and the clock is now running well, but there are a couple of dodgy brass springs that I would like to replace. I haven’t found anything suitable searching the internet so I wondered does anyone know of a supplier that might help. Last question is about the veneer on the case, it is generally in reasonable condition but there are a couple of patches on the top where the veneer has lifted. So far, I have tried to reactivate the existing adhesive by heating from below and above with a hair drier, then clamping for a day or two. It has improved slightly but the bulge is still visible. I’d be grateful for any advice if anyone has dealt with this sort of repair before.
