Good afternoon all! I will be right out with it and let you know that I know basically nothing about watches,clocks, or how to repair or make them. There have always been watches, pocket watches, wall clocks, and pretty much anything that keeps time around my whole life though. Well my Grandfather on the other hand must of been quite good at it. I believe he went to school for it in the 50’s. So the reasoning behind my post today, is that I have a garage full of brand new parts and pieces to probably every watch brand that ever existed. What should I do with these items? Attempt to sell them? I feel like throwing them away would be a terrible waste! I just have absolutely no idea what most of it is or what any of it would potentially be worth. I will attach a few pictures of a couple of the drawers and items. If you all would please give me some feed back, I would be extremely appreciative!!! Sorry for the long post and I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Wow, that looks like quite a treasure trove! I'm relatively new to this (I'm sure those more experienced will weigh in), but I believe what you have is quite valuable, not just in terms of dollars, but in terms of providing parts to those who can make use of them. You can probably sell the whole lot to a retailer who specializes in vintage parts and there are many of them on Ebay, but you may have to do some cataloguing to provide some sense of what you have. Maybe one or more of the members would be interested. I sure you'll get some helpful suggestions.

Those of us on this forum who are interested in vintage and antique watches have a vested interest in helping you sell these items.  The grouping suggestion is probably the best option for someone not interested in spending the rest of their life selling these parts.  If you decide to go this route, please post your ebay account name here so that we can all follow your auctions.

Thank you for your support!! I am currently selling some of the watches I have found on eBay currently. Again, unfortunately I have very little knowledge of what I’m selling. Thanks again for all your support!! I will definitely give you all a heads up on any auction items!

      @JohnR725 has pointed out many times that the Swiss don't care about amplitude, the timekeeping is the most important.  Give yourself a  pat on the back, great beat error and timekeeping, nothing to be disappointed about.

      This is as complicated as epilame, too many unknowns. The life expectancy in the UK is circa 80, so most people from 1944 or earlier are dead.  Assume they had children at circa 20, they died in 2004. Their children started selling 1944 watches in 2004, so pre-1944 watches must be getting more rare.   It doesn't work though because as you stated some were sold as tat, but since watch prices have increased people have decided to sell when they may not of done in the past.

      Questions about my Bravingtons Renown Mantel Clock

      I was wondering whether anyone could assist with some questions I have about my latest acquisition, which is a two train ‘Bravingtons Renown’ mantel clock - Pics attached I have done some reading about Bravingtons and believe they sourced movements from various suppliers, so I wondered whether anyone recognises this one. I have stripped and cleaned the movement and the clock is now running well, but there are a couple of dodgy brass springs that I would like to replace. I haven’t found anything suitable searching the internet so I wondered does anyone know of a supplier that might help. Last question is about the veneer on the case, it is generally in reasonable condition but there are a couple of patches on the top where the veneer has lifted. So far, I have tried to reactivate the existing adhesive by heating from below and above with a hair drier, then clamping for a day or two. It has improved slightly but the bulge is still visible. I’d be grateful for any advice if anyone has dealt with this sort of repair before.
