Hi   The pivot end is a bit square but may have been made that way, the pivots are in need of a polish,  The tool as mentioned by Gratziano in a recent post would be well suited  to this task.

My eyes are not good these days. I would need to see this up close before passing judgement.  If one of the pivots is worn as watchweasol has mentioned, the the staff needs to be replaced.

Have a look under magnification if the pivot has a slightly dome top and no scratches then I will be ok .Just give it a polish ,Hope this helps.As oldhippy says if it is damaged replace the staff

also check side shake and end shake to see if there is any other problems .
