Watch Bracelet Or Strap Mystery

Recommended Posts

Good morning Jerry, I managed to find these pictures in cyberspace that show the watch with a one piece strap with a large hole the diameter of the watch. It would appear that you unscrew the back and sandwich the strap between the front of the case and the back................weird! I think you will have to have a custom made strap.

I suspect the watch you have is a ladies, and I regarding the hole in the back, I have no idea what it is for.

The strap idea is like the omega dynamic - tissot is omega's 'lesser' brand but don't know what the hole is for. I am sure Tool 102 is refering to the Omega tool 102 which is used to remove the crystal.

Regarding the strange disk on the back of the case. it looks like it could be a removable plug to allow the balance regulator to be adjusted when the movement is cased as the watch does not have a removable back.

    • I'm just about to clean the parts of a Cal 684 which has a similar Winding Gear (#1464). I plan to clean it in my usual way (ultrasonic with Elma solutions) then dip in Lubeta V105. As for Epilame. The only parts I'll be treating are cap/pallet jewels and escapement wheel. I'm not splashing my precious fluids all over the place !
    • Yes it sounds as if the gut has fouled up. If the clock is not level that can cause the gut not to wind onto the barrel . You need to take it out of its case and post some photos. The type of key for these clocks are crank keys.
    • This guy unites the two reverse wheels in the usual system of winding movement. Do not take it apart, thow takin it apart is possible. You can get lost the small ratchets inside. I wouod use pure petrol to clean it ahd will rotate for some time the wheels when holding the pinion untill the guy is diped in the petrol. Then, after epilaming (if any aplied), I would use some Moebius 8000 solved in pure petrol and put a drop on the wheel, then will blow with air and let the petrol dry. This is old recepy not from Omega manuals where I have no idea what is the procedure.
    • This is to prevent the stone on the other side from breaking when canon is pressed. You can put the canon before assembling the movement, but this is if the 3th wheel when in place will not prevent the other wheels to get in place. The other way is to assemble the train and then to put the movement on something that the pivot tip will lay on and thus the pinion will not press the stone when canon is installed.
    • My experience with this Vertex is to unscrew the ring towards the back, with a screwdriver on the slot.  The Crystal can then be pushed back.
